One week after taking Oscar home, Adele is still making big headlines — all thanks to the name James Bond.

The Sun is reporting that the 24-year-old singer has been tapped to sing for the next 007 picture starring Daniel Craig, a move that would get her one step closer to matching Dame Shirley Bassey’s Bond career.

“Producers are thrilled by how well the song has been received and hope Adele’s presence on the next film will replicate that success,” producers told the paper.

Bassey, who also performed at last week’s Academy Awards in a tribute to the film franchise, was the voice behind theme songs for Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker.

Adele’s “Skyfall” for the film of the same name won the Oscar for Best Original Song, bringing her halfway to the coveted EGOT status (for stars who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony).

On Sunday, the singer shared words of gratitude on Twitter after arriving home in England.

“…and we’re home! What an epic trip. Thanks for having us Hollywood!” she wrote, along with a picture of her Oscar and a mini statue with the words “Best Son.”

Adele and her beau Simon Konecki welcomed a baby boy in October 2012.

The Academy Awards made history Sunday night.

For only the sixth time since the inaugural 1929 ceremony, the Oscars crowned two victors in a single category. In announcing the award for Best Sound Editing, Mark Wahlberg tore open the winner envelope and dumbfoundedly declared, “We have a tie. No B.S. We have a tie.”

That means two coveted statuettes were handed out, one to Zero Dark Thirty, Kathryn Bigelow‘s Osama bin Laden hunt-down film, and the other to Skyfall, the Sam Mendes-helmed latest installment in the illustrative James Bond franchise.

The crowned Oscar champs edged out Argo, Django Unchained, and Life of Pi for the win.

The momentous moment comes over four decades since the last tie at the Academy Awards. Back in 1969, two leading ladies snagged a Best Actress win — Katharine Hepburn, for her turn as Eleanor of Aquitaine in The Lion in Winter, and Barbra Streisand, for her debut performance in Funny Girl.

The draw was the first in a major acting category in over than three decades, following Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde‘s Fredric March and The Champ‘s Wallace Beery splitting the Best Actor victory back in 1932.

Warner Bros. couldn’t have planned it better if they tried: As Oscar night rapidly approaches, 2012’s would-be underdog Argo turns up on Blu-ray, offering viewers of the ceremony an opportunity to get thoroughly outraged on Ben Affleck’s behalf for not being nominated. Meanwhile, a collection of crowd-pleasers old and new joins Affleck’s blockbuster on home video, offering audiences a wide variety of entertainment that should both excite and educate them.

The One-Liner: Ben Affleck hits the big leagues with his thrilling, breathless chronicle of the 1970 Iran hostage crisis and the fictional Hollywood production that helped rescue a group of imperiled Americans.

Picture Perfect? If not perfect then damn near close, thanks to a terrific, saturated HD transfer that maximizes the impact of Affleck’s sure-handed direction.

What Else Is There? A picture-in-picture commentary tops the list of extras, especially since it features interview footage with real people who went through and survived the experience, while a collection of featurettes examines the real-world context more in depth.

How Badly Do I Want It? A terrifically entertaining movie that qualifies as the best sort of art that mainstream Hollywood can offer, Argo is a terrific movie well worth watching, though whether it’s worth owning forever is up to your Affleck fandom.

The Insider (Buena Vista Home Entertainment)

The One-Liner: Michael Mann’s brilliant docudrama follows the experiences of a cigarette-industry whistleblower (Russell Crowe) whose life falls into disarray after he decides to appear on 60 Minutes.

Picture Perfect? Particularly given the sorry state of the standard-definition release that was available until now, this new HD transfer looks stunning, offering unparalleled clarity and color for a film with a distinctive visual palette.

What Else Is There? Two small featurettes are all that’s included on the new disc, which comes as a disappointment since there were three on the previous SD release, not to mention the fact that it’s a great movie that would benefit enormously from more perspective and insight.

How Badly Do I Want It? If you’re a fan at all of the film, the answer is “badly” – the transfer alone makes it worth revisiting, even if the extras leave much to be desired.

The Man With the Iron Fists (Universal Studios Home Entertainment)

The One-Liner: RZA’s directorial debut comes crashing home, offering fans an opportunity to see the rapper-producer in a new light as a blacksmith who transforms into the title character after a fiendish warlord attempts to take over his quiet village.

Picture Perfect? A great transfer ensures that the film looks great on the small screen, especially accompanied by RZA’s expert musical selections, giving it a quality that bypasses the grindhouse aesthetic in favor of something more polished.

What Else Is There? Two cuts of the film offer viewers the theatrical as well as a slightly longer version, while a collection of featurettes and some 25 minutes of deleted scenes expands the story and character development of the film.

How Badly Do I Want It? A fun movie especially for old-school martial arts movie fans, this is definitely worth watching, but it depends on how much you love RZA to determine whether or not you want to own or just rent it.

Monsters, Inc. 3D (Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment)

The One-Liner: Pixar returns to one of its biggest hits, transforming it into 3D in anticipation of the upcoming prequel Monsters University.

Picture Perfect? Pixar never skimps on transfers, and this one is no different, giving the film a sharpness and luster in two or three dimensions, making this the definitive presentation of the film (not the least of which because both versions are included).

What Else Is There? A short featurette included in the credits of the theatrical re-release offers some additional 3D content, while the remainder of the set includes just about every single extra or piece of content ever created in conjunction with the film.

How Badly Do I Want It? As the most comprehensive collection of Monsters-related content, this thing is a must-own, although if you don’t have a 3D TV, you probably won’t suffer too much without the material that was added especially for this set.

Skyfall (Fox Home Entertainment)

The One-Liner: Filmmaker Sam Mendes brings the James Bond franchise back to roaring life with this sprawling, action-packed thriller, which finds Bond (Daniel Craig) battling the forces of old age while trying to foil the plans of a disgruntled former associate of his beloved mentor M (Judi Dench).

Picture Perfect? Thanks in no small part to the top-notch work of cinematographer Roger Deakins, the film looks absolutely stunning, and the transfer carefully and consistently preserves his work.

What Else Is There? Two commentary tracks and an hourlong documentary dives head first into the production of the film, offering fans a massive wealth of behind-the-scenes material that perfectly complements the content currently available for previous Bond movies.

How Badly Do I Want It? This is a must-own – it’s easily one of the best action movies of 2012, and a terrifically smart and engaging thriller that will entertain all sorts of audiences.

Top Gun 3D (Paramount Home Entertainment)

The One-Liner: Tom Cruise’s 1986 breakthrough returned to theaters for a week before coming in for a graceful landing on Blu-ray as a glorious 3D movie worthy of this generation’s best possible technology.

Picture Perfect? While the transfer retains most or all of the grain that was inherent to Tony Scott’s original cinematography, the 3D conversion sacrifices no clarity or smooths over period texture to satisfy contemporary viewers.

What Else Is There? Nothing new, which means that anything you’ve already seen on previous Blu-rays is all you’re going to get.

How Badly Do I Want It? If you’re a 3D collector, this is a must-own movie, but if not, there’s no real reason to make any effort to buy it – not the least of which because you won’t be able to watch it any differently.

Undefeated (Starz/ Anchor Bay)

The One-Liner: This documentary won an Oscar last year at the Academy Awards after dexterously examining a small-town football program whose battle for victory proves to be an inspiration to the players and the community around them.

Picture Perfect? Not especially, although it looks fine – shot on the cheap, the disc services the handheld cinematography but otherwise fails to elevate the material to anything memorably cinematic.

What Else Is There? A commentary track offers the most profound insights about the process of making the movie, while a few brief featurettes further explore the town and the impact of the football program upon it.

How Badly Do I Want It? As an Oscar winner, the film is definitely worth watching, but it might not be a necessary addition to your Blu-ray collection – that is, unless your favorite film genre is uplifting sports movies, in which case, buy two or three copies.

Presenting Harvey Weinstein, movie star?

On Saturday, the award-winning producer hit the red carpet for the annual Producers Guild Awards, but his attention quickly turned to the latest James Bond movie when he talked about his own gems, Silver Linings Playbook and Django Unchained.

“You know, it’s great that Silver Linings and Django can join Skyfall [at the box office]. That was my favorite James Bond movie,” Weinstein told Celebuzz.

“They just cast the wrong guy as Bond. Daniel [Craig] is a great friend of mine but let’s face it. I could’ve done much better in the part. Please tell him I said so.”

This isn’t the first time Weinstein has gushed about 007.

Many many moons ago, a young Weinstein snuck into his first Cannes Film Festival to catch a screening of Once Upon a Time in America. Before he knew it, he was on the verge of trouble, and seconds away from his first encounter with Bond himself.

“I sneak into the Palais, and I am about to get thrown out of the theater. My borther and I are sitting on the steps next to these guys in tuxedos. An di hear a voice, ‘Leave the boy alone,’ and it’s Sean Connery, I swear to God,” Weinstein told Reuters in November 2012.

“And whenever they left I watched the movie on the seat. And Connery just [said], ‘What are you doing?’ I said, ‘We snuck in.’”

This year’s Golden Globes just got an extra dose of star power.

Making her first post-baby appearance, Adele will return to the stage Sunday night for the 2013 Golden Globes festivities, where she is nominated for Best Original Song for the latest James Bond caper, Skyfall.

Adele’s single, “Skyfall,” will go head-to-head with Taylor Swift‘s “Safe and Sound” for The Hunger Games, Jon Bon Jovi‘s “Not Running More” for Stand Up Guys, Keith Urban‘s “For You” from Act of Valor, and “Suddenly” from Les Miserables.

Adele’s ballad also earned a nod for Best Original Song at this year’s Oscars, putting the eight-time Grammy winner within reach of her first Academy Award.

The British songstress welcomed her first child, a baby boy with boyfriend Simon Konecki, in October. Since announcing her pregnancy in June, she has maintained a extremely low profile.

For 2013, Hollywood has its work cut out for it.

2012 gave us the first-ever Marvel superhero team-up movie, the final Twilight film, the biggest James Bond movie ever and an unprecedented amount of Channing Tatum.

This year’s embarrassment of riches set the bar very high for movie fans. So before the new year tries to “out movie” the current one, Celebuzz looks back at seven of 2012’s biggest surprises – both pleasant and not-so-much – at the movies.

This feature is not a sequel to our most memorable movie moments – which you can read here. It’s rather a general look back/taking inventory of the year that was.

2012 was a remarkable year for movies – not just financially, but artistically.

Even as The Hunger Games and The Avengers and Skyfall and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 broke records and brought in historic revenues, some of the industry’s most talented actors and filmmakers further solidified their place in the Hollywood firmament, even as newcomers introduced the world to artistic voices that deserve to be heard.

All of which made a Top Ten list that much more difficult to whittle down. Nevertheless, Celebuzz assembled an in-no-particular-order collection of films that deserve recognition at the end of year, and which we believe may stand the test of time long after their competition had disappeared from our collective memories.

As arbitrary as choosing Number Four from Number Five might be, we did elect a few titles for the top of our list, starting with The Master. Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film was a revelation – a challenging, unique work of art that came to the screen without compromise, and which reminded us what the word auteur truly means.

Meanwhile, Leos Carax’ Holy Motors and Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained also ranked high as favorites, for their equally singular charms, and similar artistic integrity. On the other hand, films like 21 Jump Street and The Hunger Gamesalso unexpectedly joined their ranks as crowd-pleasers that don’t skimp on intelligence or emotional resonance as they engage our most primal instincts to be entertained.

This weekend, the box office is in for a massive shake-up as The Hobbit challenges James Bond for the No. 1 spot.

Peter Jackson‘s much-anticipated return to Middle Earth is the sole new release this weekend, and its expected to rake in tons of hard-earned allowance money.

Holdovers like Skyfall and Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 2, which have shown amazing legs at the box office for the past few weeks, are expected to bow down before Bilbo and Company. But how big will The Hobbit open?

Lord of the Rings‘ legion of fans can’t wait to see the first of three prequels set in author J.R.R. Tolkien‘s world.

The Hobbit opens in 2D, 3D, IMAX and IMAX 3D, meaning you’d have to work very hard to not see it when it hits theaters on Friday. While reviews have been mixed-to-positive for the Warner Bros. release, a franchise this beloved is virtually critic proof. Celebuzz predicts at least a $70 million opening weekend.

James Bond’s 23rd big-screen outing is also his most lucrative, having grossed over $910 million worldwide. Skyfall reclaimed the top spot last weekend, in its fifth week of release – which is unprecedented for any film. After 50 years, audiences cannot get enough of 007, but the super spy will most likely relinquish the box office throne to Gandalf and his 13 dwarves.

This year, it felt like Hollywood believed in all of that “End of the World,” Mayan Calendar stuff, as studios released wave after wave of franchises like there was no tomorrow – and finding considerable box office success in the process.

2012 delivered the end of the Twilight saga (for now) and the beginning of The Hunger Games. Threequels like Men in Black 3 and The Dark Knight Rises minted money, with the latter placing as one of 2012’s top five biggest earners.

At least 20 sequels entered the marketplace this year – more than ever before. Hollywood seemed to subsist solely on previously-established brands like James Bond and Spider-Man, or “intellectual property” like Hunger Games. In fact, only two films in the Top 10 this year are based on original ideas.

The latest James Bond flick has reclaimed its place at the box office, thanks to another $20.3 million in ticket sales this weekend ($11 million in North America).

Skyfall, starring Daniel Craig, has now grossed more $918 million worldwide, making it the highest grossing film ever released by its studio, Sony Pictures, Deadline reports.

The last Sony film to reach Bond proportions was Tobey Maguire’s last Spider-Man film, Spider-Man 3, which grossed some $890 worldwide in 2007.

Stateside, Rise of the Guardians and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 rounded out the box office, with $10.5 million and $9.2 million in ticket sales, respectively.

“Nothing demonstrates the powerful word of mouth and outstanding playability on this film better than reclaiming top spot in such a competitive marketplace,” Sony Pictures said on Sunday [via Deadline].

Stephen Spielberg’s Lincoln and the big screen adaptation of the bestselling novel Life Of Piraked in $9.1 million and $8.3 million this weekend, respectively.

Gerard Butler’s latest film, Playing For Keeps, opened at No. 6 with $6.1 million.

George Clooney has already enlisted James Bond for his next film. Now, he’s looking to recruit Jason Bourne.

Matt Damon is in talks to join the period thriller The Monuments Men, a film directed and co-written by the Oscar winner, according to Deadline.

The Bourne Ultimatum star is negotiating for an unspecified role in the World War II flick, which centers on a crew of art historians that must infiltrate Nazi Germany to retrieve valuable art stolen by the Third Reich.

Should Damon sign on, he will join an impressive cast that includes 007 himself, Daniel Craig, along with Cate Blanchett and Bill Murray.

Clooney wrote the script with producing partner and writer Grant Heslov (Good Night, and Good Luck). Monuments Men reunites Damon and Clooney, who were last seen together onscreen in 2007’s Ocean’s 13.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 2, Skyfall and Lincoln held onto their box office perches for the third week in a row. Read on for how the rest of the weekend movies fared.

The fifth and final Twilight film stayed atop the box office for the third week in a row, earning $17.4 million. That brings its total domestic tally to $254.6 million, just one million shy of the biggest Twilight film: New Moon.

Skyfall came in at a close second, with $17 million. The 23^rd entry in the Bond franchise is not only the series’ highest-grossing film, its also the highest grossing spy movie ever in the U.S. Skyfall’s worldwide total currently stands at $869 million.

Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln continued to show great legs at the box office. The film, which came in at No. 3 for the weekend with $13.5 million, has grossed nearly $84 million domestic. The bio-pic could easily hit the $100 million mark during the upcoming holiday frame.

3D holdovers Rise of the Guardians and Life of Pi came in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Guardians found $13.5 million in its second week in release, while director Ang Lee’s Pi grossed $12 million.

Killing Them Softly was the sole wide release this past weekend, bombing at No. 7 with a dismal $7 million. The film, which garnered a rare “F” CinemaScore rating from moviegoers, marks one of Brad Pitt’s worst opening weekends ever.

On a positive note, Ben Affleck’s Oscar-hopeful Argo reached the $100 million milestone at the box office this past weekend. This marks Affleck’s highest-grossing film as a director.

In one corner, Pitt reunites with his Assassination of Jesse James director Andrew Dominik for the gritty crime thriller Softly. The movie, based on the novel Cogan’s Trade, centers on Pitt’s pursuit of two crooks who thought it was a good idea to rob a Mob-backed card game.

This is Pitt’s first movie since last year’s Moneyball, and if the reviews are any indication, it looks like Softly will need more than putting a shotgun in Pitt’s hands to conquer the box office.

Breaking Dawn — Part 2 enters its third frame as the movie to beat. Since opening on November 16, the final Twilight film has retained the number one spot at the box office, despite strong competition for holdover Skyfall, the highest-grossing James Bond movie in the U.S.

Twilight fans kept Breaking Dawn — Part 2 at the top of the box office for the second weekend in a row, leading to the biggest Thanksgiving weekend ever.

Daniel Craig’s Skyfall and Ang Lee’s Life of Pi also delivered big business.

The final film in the Twilight saga scored $43 million over the weekend, for a total of $64 million over the five-day holiday frame – enough to retain the number one spot for the second week in a row.

Breaking Dawn — Part 2, starring Kristen Stewart, has earned $200 million in the U.S. as of Monday, bringing its worldwide total to a franchise-high of $577 million.

In it’s third frame, Skyfall earned $34 million over the weekend, making the 23^rd James Bond film the first 007 picture to hit $200 million in the U.S. Directed by Sam Mendes, Skyfall’s current worldwide box office rests at an impressive $790 million.

Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln continued to show great legs at the U.S. box office, securing the No. 3 spot with $25 million. Dreamworks’ Rise of the Guardians, considered to be a major player at the Thanksgiving box office, came in at No. 4, with a less-than-expected take of $24 million.

Meanwhile, 20^th Century Fox’s adaptation of the novel Life of Pi exceeded expectations, scoring a fifth-place finish with $22 million in three days. The 3D film was expected to gross $20 million for the entire holiday period, a total it cleared in its first three days.  Currently, Pi’s five-day total sits at $30.2 million.

MGM’s long-delayed remake of Red Dawn opened at No. 7, with a 3-day tally of $14 million ($22 million over five days).

Next weekend finds Brad Pitt’s crime thriller, Killing Me Softly, competing with Team Edward and James Bond for box office supremacy.  Killing opens Friday, November 30.

Aside from eating foods people only really eat once a year, Thanksgiving is also the time to spend a day or two at the movies.

The holiday traditionally gives Hollywood one of its biggest weekends of the year, and this year’s holiday season is no exception. Several movies are jockeying for your attention at the box office, and Celebuzz has your guide to which films are playing at a theatre near you.

Chris Hemsworth‘s Red Dawn remake and Dreamworks’ animated movie Rise of the Guardians lead the charge of new releases this week, alongside new movies from Brad Pitt and director Ang Lee. 

With movies like Skyfall and Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 still doing strong business at the multiplex, it’s going to be Box Office Thunderdome as the new films compete with the holdovers. Thankfully there’s plenty of time over the break to catch a movie or three.

While no records were broken, Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 easily won the weekend box office.

The fifth and final Twilight film opened with $141.3 million, just below Twilight: New Moon’s franchise-best tally of $142.8 million. Industry analysts were expecting the finale, starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, to open with larger numbers.

In its second frame, Skyfall came in at No. 2 with $41.5 million. The 23^rd James Bond film, starring Daniel Craig, has earned $161.3 million in 10 days, putting it on track to become the highest-grossing Bond film ever.

Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln grossed an impressive $21 million on only 1,775 screens, scoring the No. 3 spot. The Oscar-hopeful, backed with stellar reviews, is expected to fare well at the box office over the coming weeks.

Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph added another $18.4 million to its total, good enough for fourth place. Flight, starring Denzel Washington, rounded out the Top 5 with $8.6 million.
