Fashion’s biggest night — the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art — got New York City buzzing and its celeb attendees certainly dressed to impress. Who were some of the faves amongst fashion critics on Monday night?

From Sofia Vergara‘s figure-flattering Marchesa gown to Scarlett Johansson‘s custom Dolce & Gabbana, cleavage-baring number, Celebuzz is taking a look back at the evening’s best dressed celebrities.

Celebuzz even tapped fashion expert Art Conn to get his thoughts on the evening’s looks. What did he have to say?

He told us:

“Everyone seems to be taking the plunge and joining the navy. Navy colored dresses and low plunging necklines were the belles of the Ball. Literally. As one of the year’s most elegant and avant garde red carpet occasions, most celebs played it safe.”

Solange Knowles: Baby Blue Is So Beautiful

Solange Knowles can’t get enough of her new niece. Beyonce’s little sis gushed about baby Blue in the latest issue of UK’s Rollacoaster, revealing:

“It’s very different to being a mother, but there’s still that sort of magnetic bond and love that you can’t even put words on to describe. I think babies in general are so lovable – and my sister’s baby, Blue, is so beautiful. She is really a beautiful little baby. It’s really special to have a niece because I have a son, so I get to have a little girl too.”

The 25-year-old singer and DJ has remained a very low profile — and doesn’t mind living in her sister’s shadow. Actually, she likes it.

“She was and is such a role model, but I think more so it was an insane learning process for me to have a big sister like that. To be able to see the good, the bad and everything in between that comes with fame and success, and to know what I was getting myself into,” she said.

Solange added: “I really enjoy my privacy and being able to walk my son to school every morning and pick him up every afternoon. I know that I couldn’t do that if I was at the next level – privacy, as you know, it just doesn’t belong to you anymore. I definitely made a conscious effort to stay as low key as I can and still do what I want to do.”

Love the Look! Solange Knowles’ Bright Yellow Cutaway Dress (PHOTOS)

Life as an aunt seems to be treating Solange Knowles well. Beyonce‘s little sister was dressed to impress as she arrived at the Tiffany & Co. celebration launch of True Love in Pictures in New York City.

Surrounded by diamonds at the flagship store, Solange stood out in a yellow Christopher Kane cutaway pleated dress paired with Fendi Grosgrain Mix sandals. She looked gorgeous as she headed to the DJ booth to spin tunes at the private event. Attendees flocked to the DJ booth to get a glimpse of B’s sister, but she made sure to stay mum about her sister and Blue Ivy.

But the new auntie was pretty talkative when she spoke with InStyle magazine this month, gushing about spoiling baby Blue.

“This may sound awful, but I’m excited to let the baby do whatever it wants in the same way my sister’s done with my son. I’m going to get her back for all those late-night popcorn sessions and just spoiling my child to no end!” she added with a laugh.

Solange Knowles Defends Beyonce Against Baby Rumors & ‘Lies’

The world has been buzzing about Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z, who welcomed their first daughter Blue Ivy Carter on January 7. Amidst the congratulations has also come lots of rumors, speculation and rants surrounding the baby’s birth. Did they spend $1.3 million to rent a whole hospital floor? Was the baby born naturally? Was Beyonce really pregnant?!

With all the rumors swirling , B’s sister Solange Knowles went on a Twitter rant, writing:

“We are supposed to be super human and watch people we love get slandered, lied on, and ridiculed. It is one of THE hardest things to accept.”

Several minutes later, she continued: “In any other workplace…if someone directly tells your mother or sister is a liar and a fake ect…you would naturally express yourself…. However, the pure happiness and joy I’ve witnessed and experienced helps me to keep my mouth shut.”

Yesterday, the power couple released a statement about baby Blue:

“Hello Hello Baby Blue! We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.”

Never one to shy away from having eclectic style, Solange Knowles was spotted at the Burberry Body fragrance launch party in Beverly Hills on Wednesday night with an interesting getup. In attendance and on DJ’ing duties, the star wore a printed blouse with a high waist skirt, paired with beaded sandals from Burberry’s own 2012 collection.

Report: Beyonce Is Pregnant

Beyonce may soon be joining her best friend Alicia Keys in the New Moms Club.

According to Us Weekly the “Halo” songbird is pregnant with her first child. The 29-year-old diva and her husband Jay-Z were reportedly “shocked” by the news but they are said to be “so happy” to be expecting.

For now, the pregnancy is still in the rumor stage and the singer has not confirmed that she is with child. Celebuzz reached out to Beyonce’s representative for a comment but we have not yet heard back about the rumored pregnancy.

Beyonce and Jay-Z married in 2008 after dating quietly for years.

Beyonce’s sister, Solange, could give her big sis some tips on how to be a good mom–Solange has a son who celebrated his 6th birthday on Tuesday.

“She’s got the most beautiful heart,” Solange told Us about Beyonce, “She’ll be a great mom.”

Beyonce’s close friend, Alicia Keys, gave birth to a baby boy last week. Watch the two performing “Put It In a Love Song” at Madison Square Garden below.

Beyonce Catches a Breeze in Malibu

Rumored Oscar performer Beyonce Knowles shot a new video on a Malibu beach yesterday, wowing spectators in a flowing green dress that caught the wind like the singer herself has captured America’s hearts.

The “Put A Ring On It” singer later changed into a white jersey and denim cut-offs to run along the beach with a male co-star.

It’s not known if the video is for an upcoming single from her double album I Am…Sasha Fierce or if it’s a promo for mom Tina Knowles‘ fashion label House of Dereon.

In between shooting the vid, Etta James‘ best friend is supposedly rehearsing for the big Oscar number that she’s reportedly going to sing with Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper this Sunday night.

Australian director Baz Luhrmann (Australia, Moulin Rouge!) is said to be helming the spectacle.

To illustrate the difference between an A-list star and a C-list star’s existence, Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles‘ contribution to celebrity news this week was to overdose on NyQuil and pass out at a baggage claim.

While the biggest honors from the Recording Academy are handed out live on the Grammy’s telecast, there are seemingly endless others voted on and handed out before one person steps foot on the stage.

Thanks to the power of Twitter, Celebuzz already has reactions from one music heavyweight and news on how a rap king even found out he won.

John Mayer was handed Best Rock Vocal for his track “Gravity,” and immediately blasted out a message to fans and followers.

“Won best rock vocal Grammy for Gravity!” he exclaimed, “Heart is about to explode! That song means the worls to me and to see it get love is a THRILL!”

And while Jay-Z hasn’t always been the biggest fan of the award ceremony, his sister-in-law Solange Knowles was ready with a tweet (aka Twitter message) to let him know he scored a pre-show trophy.

Fashion risk-taker Solange Knowles hit up MTV’s TRL Tuesday to promote her second album, Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams.

Or maybe she was promoting those shoes.

What are they made out of, anway—a porcupine dipped in tar? Leftover scraps from Joe Jonas‘ mustache? Cher?

Solange’s album was released on the same day these photos were taken.

She tried to release her shoes back into their natural habitat several times, but they keep showing up on her doorstep and howling to be let back in.

She had to leave the country to do it, but Solange Knowles—pretty much exclusively known as Beyonce Knowles‘ kid sister—has her day in the sun.

To make the most of it, she wore an orange dress so bright it could be seen from outer space, along with the Great Wall of China and parts of Kim Kardashian.

The lesser-known Knowles was in London to appear on Good Morning TV’s GMTV Today for “a chat and performance,” presumably from her one-woman play, Confessions of an Invisible Sibling.

But wait; didn’t Beyonce give Solange an orange dress for her 22nd birthday last month?

An orange dress remarkably like the one she’s wearing in the above picture?

Why, yes; yes she did.

Sigh; guess any Solange glory still comes courtesy of Beyonce…

Beyonce Helps Sister Solange Celebrate Her Own B-Day

Beyonce‘s criminally neglected younger sister Solange Knowles was let out of her cell to celebrate her 22nd birthday at a party in the Hollywood Hills. Big sis was there, along with special guest Lindsay Lohan.

Okay, Lindsay was just there to support her girlfriend Samantha Ronson, who was hired to DJ the event. But that doesn’t mean she didn’t take the opportunity for a photo op.

Solange was given some sort of tattered orange dress from the bottom of Beyonce’s sixth walk-in closet to wear. It’s like Cinderella, but with hair extensions!

Other celebs in attendance included Ludacris, Mario, and Ney-Yo. Guests chowed down on barbecue chicken, cornbread, greens, mac and cheese and delicious cupcakes.

DJ Sammy was ordered by Solange to only play songs by Beyonce and Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z all night. Someone’s trying to make sure she stays taken care of.

Solange has her own “singing career.” But it’s got to be hard to reach for the limelight when Beyonce’s wigs are always blocking it.
