Not everyone in Hollywood has dropped pounds by diehard dieting and fitness… some have taken drastic measures by going under the knife.

Stars like American Idol judge Randy Jackson and The Talk‘s Sharon Osbourne have been open about their weight-loss procedures. While some undergo gastric bypass surgery, in which the stomach is divided into two, others opt for an inflatable gastric band that surrounds the top of the stomach to slow down food consumption.

So have these celebs achieved their desired results? You may be surprised by their answers.

Though Jackson has kept off the weight — shedding an impressive 114 pounds since his 2003 surgery — Osbourne found a loophole to the slim-down effect.

After losing 125 pounds following her Lap Band surgery in 1999, the talk show host says she still found ways to eat more than she should.

“The band was not the solution to my weight struggles, as I had hoped it would be. It was just like everything else, you find a way around it,” she writes on her diet blog. “And I found out that if I had a glass of wine, it loosened it up and I could eat whatever I wanted, so it became redundant.”

Likewise, fitness and nutrition expert JJ Virgin, who also starred on TLC’s reality series Freaky Eaters, says weight loss surgery is “absolutely not” the ultimate cure-all.

“Studies show bariatric surgery can reduce risks for diabetes, sleep apnea, and other problems,” Virgin told Celebuzz. “But a very recent study showed it’s also expensive and doesn’t improve overall health or increase lifespan.”

“There are risks involved with the surgery, and someone considering it would need to weigh those risks with any potential benefits,” she continued, adding that it should only be considered if the person has exhausted all other options, including working with practitioners to address potential hormone issues, following a balanced diet, completing high-intensity interval training and addressing psychological issues.

Virgin also tells CB! that opting for surgery is not a quick fix… and even post-surgery weight gain is likely to occur.

“The problem is a lack of long-term behavioral and nutritional counseling to make this change lasting. If the person goes back to eating the way they did pre-surgery, eventually they will gain some or all of that weight back,” she said.

“So could it be helpful?” Virgin asked. “Sure, depending on the person undergoing it who works with professionals post-surgery to make fast fat loss lasting fat loss.”

Newsman and daytime talker Anderson Cooper may be trying not to perpetuate his ongoing feud with Star Jones, but recent comments are doing quite the opposite.

On Wednesday’s episode of daytime show Anderson Live, the host’s war of words with Jones came up while speaking to a viewer on Skype who referenced the former The View co-host.

In turn, Cooper, 45, tried to stay above the fray, including mentioning that he turned down a request from NBC’S Today to hash it out with Jones, 50. “Don’t get me in a war with Star Jones now,” he says on his show, according to THR.

“I said my peace on Star Jones, I am not one to have a feud. She tweeted back something. I said my peace and then she tweeted me and I’m not responding. Actually, the Today show tried to book me to go on with Star Jones, so we could tussle. I was like, ‘I’ve got nothing more to say, nor do I want to be in a room with her. I’m done.’ ”

What is Anderson’s beef with Star?

The feud started when Jones went on Today in July and accused Cooper of coming out as gay for ratings. Last week, he addressed the comment on his show saying that comment “annoyed” him (and his mom). Furthermore, he said that if he wanted to get ratings from the admission then he would’ve done it on his own show with massive promotion.

Also, the journalist pointed out that he was out of the country at the time of his coming out and the daytime show wasn’t on the air that week and he wasn’t scheduled to be on CNN for several days after the coming out statement either.

Now trending is the case of slain Florida teenager, Trayvon Martin, who was gunned down in a gated community by a neighborhood watchman. 

On February 26 of this year, a 17 year-old-boy named Trayvon Martin was shot in Florida by a man who claimed to be a neighborhood watchman in a gated community.  The boy was unarmed and walking through the community when he was pursued by George Zimmerman – who claimed the boy looked “suspicious.”  At some point during the pursuit of the boy, Zimmerman shot and killed him, claiming that he felt “threatened.”

There has been an outcry by many celebrities to bring attention to this case, specifically that the killer is still free and has yet to be charged with the murder. Real Housewives of Atlanta star Nene Leakes and former View host Star Jones are no strangers to drama, so when the two came together to star on the upcoming season of Celebrity Apprentice, it should come as a surprise that these two ladies didn’t exactly see eye to eye.

What exactly caused this drama? And what can we expect to see on this season of the hit NBC show? Nene spoke with Celebuzz to dish out all the dirt:

You clash a bit with Star Jones on this season of Celebrity Apprentice. Can you give us some inside scoop on that?
Well for weeks we were cool. What caused it is that I don’t think Star is a loyal person. I’m very loyal to those who are loyal to me. I understand we are playing a game. People are manipulative and strategic, but I don’t feel that you need to be that way when you’re playing for charity. She was backstabbing and manipulative and it really aggravated me so I called her on it in front of Trump.

Who did you get along with and get close to?
Star and I got along well for a long time, but I always felt she had this preconceived notion about me. I also heard that she didn’t really like reality stars. Some people left early so I didn’t get a chance to make a connection with them, but I thought all the girls were cool. Latoya [Jackson] has been the person I’ve talked to the most. We clash on the show because of Star but we both confronted her. Towards the end, everyone starts to get aggressive, but all the girls are cool.

What’s it like being there with Latoya Jackson?
I’ve never been a star struck person. I respect her family and the things that they’ve done in the entertainment industry, but that’s their thing. I met her and introduced myself. I saw another side of Latoya that people don’t know. I talk to her the most out of everybody. She’s really cool.

You’ve been working on your brand and your business. Are you now looking to expand? What’s next?
A lot of opportunities have been presented to me. I’m not sure which way to go in yet, but one of my goals is to host. I’d love to do something like Chelsea Lately where we can laugh a bit and then move to the couch and have an interview. I’m also very interested in shoes and handbags too, so I have a few things to think about.

The next season of Celebrity Apprentice is shaping up to be quite the rich and varied experience. Yeeeeahhhhh!

TMZ reports that rapper Lil Jon, Survivor winner Richard Hatch and former baseball player Jose Canseco have signed on top participate in the next edition of Donald Trump‘s televised brainchild.

These newest cast members should provide the show with its requisite amount of scandal; Hatch, of course, is well known for his troubles with the IRS, which landed him in prison for nearly three years. Canseco, meanwhile, set the baseball world on its ear with his steroid-snitching autobiography Juiced, not to mention his memorable run on The Surreal Life.

Jon, Hatch and Canseco will reportedly be joining former Sugar Ray singer Mark McGrath, The View alum Star Jones and LaToya Jackson on the program, which pits the famous and semi-famous against each other in an effort to find out who has the most formidable business prowess—and to document the subsequent hissy-fits.

People reports that Anne Hathaway‘s ex Rafaello Follieri has been sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison for 14 counts of wire fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy. Follieri stated, through an interpretor, that “what I did was wrong and there is no point in making excuses. … I will never be able to wash away the shame. … I just hope that someday those who have been hurt by my actions will forgive me.”

TMZ reports that Ali Lohan, considered a minor at 15, has filed a petition to work in Los Angeles in LA Superior Court. Lohan reportedly will be working with her record company, Maloof Music.

The New York Daily News reports that View host Elisabeth Hasselbeck will be introducing Republican vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin at a series of rallies in Florida this weekend. “I am more than honored to be there, so I will be flying there to travel with her and meet some pretty interesting people, I have a feeling,” Hasselbeck told ABC News. “That’s an honor, I’m excited to do it, and I’ll have some stories I’m sure on Monday.”

Broadway World reports that Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening will close on Jan. 18 after 859 performances. The show won eight Tony Awards in it’s critically-acclaimed run.

TMZ reports that Star Jones has filed a lawsuit alleging that her NYC penthouse triplex is a “unhealthy and dangerous” place to live due to mold. Jones says that she hasn’t been able to live in the residence since March of 2006 and is suing for $700,000 in damages.

Apparently, Al Reynolds has never heard the saying, “Talk is cheap.”

The soon-to-be former Mr. Star Jones is reportedly shopping around a tell-all interview about his union to Star. The New York Daily News (second item) quotes a television producer as saying, “He has got to make a buck somehow. He’s been looking for a six-figure deal for an interview where he dishes about being married to Star.”

Hmm; how much more dish could there be about a woman who so zestfully reveals every ugly aspect of her personality to the public already? Who was crass enough to enlist more than 30 corporate sponsors for her wedding to Reynolds, and shameless enough to show up to the wedding anyway?

Maybe Al’s going to reveal that that his beloved didn’t lose all that weight  from gastric bypass surgery, but from an all-puppy diet. Frankly, it’s difficult to imagine how else Jones’ public image could drop lower than it already is.

On second thought, Reynolds should probably receive more than six figures just for staying married to that puppy eater for nearly four years.

To feud or not to feud, that is the question for Star Jones and Barbara Walters. For Star, she ain’t leaving till the former fat lady sings. Alas, Babs insists she’s no longer listening.

Things ignited when, during a promo interview for her unexpectedly juicy memoir, Audition, Walters told Oprah Winfrey she and the other View gals were pressured to keep up Jones’ hard-to-stomach line that it was “portion control and Pilates” to credit for her weight loss.

Ever humble, Star blasted out of her lair, scrambling wildly for headlines from Walters’ book and saying the media icon “is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book. It speaks to her true character.”

Ball back to Barbara. Except, damn her, Walters simply won’t take a swing, her rep saying to Us Weekly, “I will not dignify this with a comment. Barbara’s written words say it all!”

Aw, man, just when it was starting to get good. Then again, having well earned her rep as the mouth that roared, Star is probably just winding up for the next hit. Duck, Babs, you’re not as spry as you used to be!

It’s an Al Reynolds wrap for Star Jones, yet the usually talky publicitymonger has been laying low while theories swirl on the marriage’s end.

The former View face stepped out of her lair on April 27 to give the commencement address at Lane College, a four-year largely black institution in Jackson, Tennessee, that’s affiliated with the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

This was only four days after filing for divorce from her high-living, money-grubbing hubby, but lo and behold, Star’s speech was full of be-the-best-you-can-be platitudes and brave pregnant pauses. No mention of Al, or Reynolds, or divorce, or designer-label whoring. God doesn’t smile on divorces, you know.

But now mommie-dearest-in-law is chiming in to In Touch: “He is so hurt and so sad,” Ada Reynolds says of her son. “He did not want this divorce at all. He wanted to stay married. I think Star wanted the divorce, not Al.

“So, where’s the blue boy now? New York Daily News sources say he’s down in Miami licking his conquests wounds. “He hits Mansion, Privé, Mokai and the Florida Room at the Delano four nights a week. Al always has a posse of hot young dudes and scantily clad women with him.”

That sounds about right, minus the scantily clad women.

Always sad when true love comes to an end, dontcha think?  Count on it, sooner or later the fat lady will surely sing. She’s just waiting to close a deal with the right sponsor.

The woman whose Website bears the quote, “I am the author of the dictionary that defines me,” appears to have rewritten the entry for “sugar mama.” However, the Star Jones gravy train screeched to a halt about a year ago, when husband Al Reynolds mentally and financially absolved himself of all responsibility to his lawyer wife.

A spy recounted to the New York Daily News a very public spat the loving couple had in Saint-Tropez. The root of their discord? Beach chairs, for which Al refused to hand over any cash. “[Star] paid for everything. He never even took out his wallet.”

Meanwhile, the sweater-set-loving good-time boy has been consoling himself over the end of his relationship to his Incredible Shrinking Ex-Wife by rocking the Miami club sceneâ��hard. A South Beach source revealed, “He hits Mansion, Privé, Mokai and the Florida Room at the Delano four nights a week.”

Star and Al’s separate living arrangements have been going on for about a year now, with Reynolds working as a professor of social science (fancy wording for “party expert”) at Florida Memorial University.

Itâ��s probably a safe bet that Al’s income from academia might not be enough to pay for the lifestyle to which he’s become accustomed. Argyle sweaters and bow-ties don’t come cheap, you know.

Who woulda thought that the diamond ring he put on Star’s then sausage of a finger would have ended up being such a shrewd investment? Maybeâ��s the man’s more of a “Wall Street financier” than he’s being given credit for.

Publicly, former purveyor of relationship advice, Star Jones, has remained tight-lipped when it comes to discussing the reason behind her split from Al Reynolds, her husband of three-and-a-half years. However, shortly after Star went public with confirmation that she had filed for divorce, insiders began to let fly with theories on what went wrong.

A friend of the author of Shine! A Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Journey to Finding Love dished to the New York Daily News, “Al was never there for Star—he hasn’t made any money in the last three years. He has been living off of her.”

Despite lacking enough common sense enough to not marry a gay man with barely a paycheck, Star, ever the lawyer, at least knew to have a prenup drawn up before their lavish, infomercial-style nuptials. Otherwise, that extensive shoe collection of hers might actually be worn by him.

The fairy-tale romance that existed between Star Jones and Al Reynolds has officially come to an end. That’s right, Camelot is no more.

Star has released a statement to Entertainment Tonight, admitting that she has taken legal steps to end her three-and-a-half-year marriage to her toothy beau.

The former cohost of The View said, “Several years ago I made an error in judgment—A month ago I filed for divorce.” In the statement, Star also politely requested that her privacy be respected, acknowledging that she regrets “inviting the media into the most intimate area of [her] life.”

Evidently, this means Star has had more cameras than anything else up in her intimate business during the past three-plus years, and she won’t be seeking corporate sponsorship to fund divorce proceedings.
