For those unfamiliar with the classic Tintin comic books — which is quite likely because it debuted in 1929 — the series follows a young investigative journalist and his faithful fox terrier Snowy. 

One of the most popular comic book series in Europe, it has been franchised into film, radio, television and theater productions. Now Tintin is getting the Hollywood treatment — with a hot young actor taking the lead role.  

Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, The Eagle) will voice the young reporter, while Daniel Craig will also lend his talents. ”The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of The Unicorn” centers around a mysterious clue to a sunken ship and a race to find it first. 

The beautiful blonde A-lister strutted her stuff in a skimpy red string bikini as she watched her kids Apple and Moses play in the sand. Also present (but sadly not in a bikini): director Steven Spielberg, who videotaped Gwyneth’s kids playing at the beach party. Having one of the world’s most famous directors make your home videos? Just another day in the life of Gwyneth!

This isn’t the first time that Gwyneth has impressed us with her impossibly fit bikini body. The actress was spotted earlier this year flautning her figure during a beach vacation in the Caribbean. Check out the photos below.

The 13-year-old actress took everyone’s breath away in a fashionable (yet age-appropriate) embroidered cream maxi dress with 3/4 sleeves. While walking the red carpet, Elle rubbed elbows with Hollywood’s elite, including Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg, who produced the film.

Also in attendance: Super 8 director J.J. Abrams, his old Lost buddy Jorge Garcia and the always beautiful Jaime King.

One of Shia’s many blockbuster hits, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, launched Shia to superstardom, but even Shia doesn’t have too much of an ego to admit that he wasn’t satisfied with his performance in the film.

From the Los Angeles Times:

I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished [...] You get to monkey-swinging and things like that and you can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on Steven [Spielberg, who directed]. But the actor’s job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn’t do it. So that’s my fault. Simple.

Wow, imagine that, an actor who is willing to take full responsibility for his performance in a film.

Maybe eating all this humble pie can explain why Shia continues to delight audiences and land choice movie roles. Oh, and let’s not forget dating talented cutie pie Carey Mulligan.

Maybe some of the more egotistical members of Young Hollywood can take a few cues from Shia’s attitude.

Shia will star in the upcoming fifth installment of Indiana Jones.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Downey may be about to sign on for Steven Spielberg‘s remake of the 1950 Jimmy Stewart classic Harvey, about a man who pals around with a giant rabbit that no one else can see.

The original movie, which was based on a Pulitzer-winning play, scored Stewart an Oscar nomination. Other actors who’ve been bandied about for the lead role of Elwood P. Dowd include Tom Hanks and Will Smith.

The Fox is back in Vancouver to reshoot scenes for Jennifer’s Body, the comedy/horror flick written by lauded Juno writer Diablo Cody, according to GossipGirls.

The flick is about “a newly possessed cheerleader who turns into a killer specializing in offing her male classmates.”

Seeing as Jennifer’s Body has some horror elements, Megan’s belief that she is a doppelganger of M*A*S*H actor Alan Alda should fit right in.

Oscar-winning alter-ego Diablo Cody is writing to her strengths. Alternate personalities seem to be a part of her work lately. She’s the creator of the Steven Spielberg-produced The United States of Tara.

In the Showtime series, Toni Colette portrays a housewife with four distinctive personalities.

Surely, Colette is equipped to bring an unsettling schizoid switch to the role, but nothing would be more horrific than making out with Megan Fox as she metamorphoses into Alan Alda.

The Huffington Post confirms with 50-year-old Bacon’s publicist Allen Eichhorn that the couple indeed invested with the disgraced Madoff, jailed on December 11 for fronting a Ponzi scheme that claimed the likes of director Stephen Spielberg and producer Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Bacon’s rep would not elaborate on precisely how much money the couple has lost, yet Madoff’s entire scheme is said to have cost participants around $50 billion.

Sedgwick, 43, is nominated for a Golden Globe for her work in TNT’s The Closer, and will hit the carpet with her husband when the ceremony airs live from Los Angeles on January 11, 2009.

In actuality, Cruise is holding a photo of Spielberg and himself that was taken on the set of War of the Worlds back in 2004. The photographer who passed it to him was the one who snapped the picture, which is why Cruise was gracious enough to pose with it.

As of this week, Cruise’s life has come full circle concerning his publicity tour for War of the Worlds; so the photo pass is a meaningful coincidence.

It was back during War‘s promotion that Cruise got into a televised spat with Matt Lauer while being interviewed on the Today show.

Lauer questioned Cruise about his negative views on psychiatry and anti-depressant drugs due to his religious affiliation with Scientology.

Cruise bristled several times during their talk and referred to Lauer as “glib.”

It wasn’t a compliment.

It was one of the first signs that Cruise, previously considered the All-American boy of the cinema, was a little more…different…than previously believed. And he continues to give interesting interviews.

Fast forward to Monday, December 15.  Cruise again appeared on the Today show, this time to publicize his new film Valkyrie and apologize to Matt.

The Top Gun idol described himself as “arrogant” in June 2004.

Cruise said that his responses were “not as I had intended. In looking at myself, I came across as arrogant. … I didn’t communicate it in the way I wanted to communicate it. Also, that’s not the way I am. That’s not the person I am.”

He said he had learned his “lesson.”

Here’s one sweet and super-cute learning curve that wasn’t in Tom’s life last time he met Matt. She could have made all the difference.

Whew; democracy is confusing!

According to Popnography, the band coughed up a generous $50,000 to the cause. That’s still half of what Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg each gave, but Wentzy needs to spend cautiously; he has a bundle of joy on the way with wife Ashlee Simpson. According to some sources, two bundles of joy. That’s a lot of college to save for.

But fatherhood worries aside, Prop 8 is an issue the rockers feel very strongly about. Wentz recently blogged: “i think proposition 8 is pretty lame- as many others do too. its f*cking lame.”

At least Fall Out Boy put their money where their mouths are. Unlike certain celebrities, who put their mouths…on anything.

After Brad Pitt donated $100,000 to help defeat Proposition 8—a state ballot initiative that would reverse California’s decision to overturn the gay marriage ban— Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw have also ponied up the same amount for the cause, reports People.

In a joint statement, Spielberg and Capshaw noted, “By writing discrimination into our state constitution, Proposition 8 seeks to eliminate the right of each and every citizen in our state to marry regardless of sexual orientation.”

Well said, you two. This should be music to some stars’ ears.

“I haven’t even told Steven [Spielberg] or Harrison this,” MTV.ca reports Lucas as revealing, “but I have an idea to make Shia the lead character next time and have Harrison come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out.”

Ouch! Ford surely enjoyed finding out that Lucas doesn’t think he has enough snap in his whip anymore through a media outlet. Though, really, he should have seen this coming (unless he didn’t have his bifocals on). He’s 65 now, and it’s doubtful audiences will shell out to watch Indiana Jones and the Ordeal of the Unopenable Prescription Bottles.

If the elder actor was upset by the revelation, though, he kept it under wraps. Kind of. It’s difficult to not read a little bit of sulk into his response: “I have no cheeky answer for [that]. I just work here. I’m glad to work here,” Ford told MTV News. “Till they tell me otherwise, I will continue to be Indiana Jones.”

There, there, Harry. We’re sure Lucas and Spielberg can find extra work for you as Mummy #11 in future Indiana Jones films. If not, you could always contact Geritol about an endorsement deal.
