Los Angeles was filled to the brim with celebrities during the second evening of KISS FM’s Jingle Ball at Nokia Live on Monday evening.

Alicia Keys made a splash on the red carpet in an aqua motorcycle jacket and low-cut blouse.

Former American Idol judge Steven Tyler has apologized for the harsh comments he made regarding Nicki Minaj‘s judging skills, saying that the “Starships” rapper would’ve sent Bob Dylan “to the cornfield” if he had auditioned for the FOX singing competition.

“I apologize if it was taken wrong, Nicki,” the Aerosmith rocker, 64, said Tuesday on eTalk, a Canadian entertainment show.

“But I am the farthest from [being a racist]. I am the last thing on this planet as far as being a racist. I don’t know where she got that out of me saying I’m not sure how she would’ve judged Bob Dylan.”

On Monday, Minaj, 29, slammed Tyler on her Twitter, writing, “Steven Tyler said I would have sent Bob Dylan to a cornfield??? Steven, you haven’t seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet!”

“I understand you really wanted to keep your job but take that up with the producers. I haven’t done anything to you. That’s a racist comment,” she added. “You assume that I wouldn’t have liked Bob Dylan??? why? black? rapper? what? go f*** yourself and worry about yourself babe.”

Tyler, who left American Idol in July after two seasons, was initially commenting on the now-infamous feud between Minaj and current judge Mariah Carey, who were captured on tape exchanging heated words during a season 12 audition in North Carolina.

“They should have something going on so thick and beautiful that they can lay it over the new talent that’s trying to birth itself. It needs to be birthed, not judged by ‘entertainment’ factors,” he said. “It needs to be judged by people that [are] honest, true, that have the ‘it’ factor. Not the ‘it’ factor because they can fight. The f— is that all about?”

Now Tyler is admitting that he should’ve chosen better words to describe the situation.

“Maybe I spoke out of turn,” he said Tuesday. “But a racist I’m not, Nicki.”

It’s no longer a game of he-said, she-said, according to the Anti-Defamation League. Ex-Idol judge Steven Tyler is NOT a racist.

In response to Nicki Minaj’s declaration that the Aerosmith rocker made a bigoted diss when he referred to her judging skills, the ADL told Celebuzz that they do not “consider it a racist remark.”

“We do not see it as racist,” Director of Media Relations Todd Gutnick explained.

“It’s a common phrase that is not at all linked in any way to a specific race. There’s no racial connotation or stereotype,” he added regarding Tyler’s comments.

The war of words between the reality show judges began when Tyler told MTV News, ”If Bob Dylan [auditioned], Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield.”

The feisty pop star then responded to Tyler’s comments by saying, “I haven’t done anything to you, that’s a racist comment.”

Tyler, who left American Idol in July after two seasons with the top-rated FOX program, initially weighed in on the now-infamous feud between Minaj and Mariah Carey, who were caught on camera yelling at one another during a season 12 audition in North Carolina.

Reflecting on the video, leaked to TMZ in October, Tyler said he wanted Minaj and Carey to “Shut the f— up,” adding, “They should have something going on so thick and beautiful that they can lay it over the new talent that’s trying to birth itself. It needs to be birthed, not judged by ‘entertainment’ factors. It needs to be judged by people that [are] honest, true, that have the ‘it’ factor. Not the ‘it’ factor because they can fight. The f— is that all about?”

In his most recent interview with MTV, the legendary frontman said the judges should be focusing more on teamwork, not bickering.

“I know that they’ve got something going on on the judges’ panel, [and] it shouldn’t be that, it should be just the opposite: They should have something going on, which is called ‘camaraderie,’” Tyler said.

American Idol season 12 premieres Jan. 16.

Stevie Nicks is eating her words.

The Fleetwood Mac frontwoman had much to say about the now-famous feud between American Idol judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. Commenting on Minaj, Nicks had told The Daily, “How dare this little girl! If I had been Mariah I would have walked over to Nicki and strangled her to death right there.”

Now the “Stand Back” singer is offering a mea culpa.

“I want to apologize for my remarks about Nicki Minaj’s behavior toward Mariah Carey, which I said during a long and exhausting day of interviews,” Stevie said in a statement to Celebuzz.

“It was very out of character for me and I deeply regret what I said. I feel very protective toward Mariah Carey, who has gone through many difficulties in her life, and I spoke without thinking. I think all artists should be respectful toward one another, and that includes me. I am truly sorry.”

Nicks’ comments stemmed from a video that captured Minaj erratically cursing out Carey during auditions in Charlotte, N.C. As the rapper threw threats in the superstar’s direction — shouting “off with your head” and “I will knock you out” — Carey remained calm and carried on with the job at hand: judging the Idol hopefuls.

While the bad blood has generated headlines and hype around the show, some suspect the fracas is no more than a publicity stunt.

“I think right now, because the show isn’t airing, they are trying to keep the buzz up,” Season 3 contestant Diana DeGarmo told Celebuzz. “I think it’s just a case of them causing a stir to get people excited to see it. Then when it starts, it’ll be back to the contestants.”

Former Idol judge Steven Tyler and Cee Lo Green of rival music competition show The Voice have also expressed skepticism.

FOX’s former American Idol judge Steven Tyler has a few words for the supposedly feuding Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.

On Friday night, the 64-year-old rocker told TMZ that the whole thing is too good to be true.

“Of course, are you kidding?” Tyler said outside a restaurant in Los Angeles.

Tyler, who served as a judge on ‘Idol’ on seasons 10 and 11, is not the only one who thinks the feud is a set up.

Earlier this week, Cee Lo Green shared his thoughts on the behind-the-scenes beef.

“This is Hollywood, California,” he told TMZ. “Hardly anything’s legit.”

Green, who is set to leave The Voice after its current season, also said he’s not intimidated by Idol’s potential ratings boost, now that the show’s received a ton of attention for Minaj and Carey’s fight.

“I think it’s entertainment for everybody.”

Also on Friday, Idol producers released a statement to assure viewers that everything is under control, despite the heated exchange between Minaj and Carey.

“This is one of the best, most passionate, dynamic and invested judging panels we’ve ever had,” the producers said in a statement.

“Despite all the accusations and media speculation — much of which is inaccurate — production is going extremely well today and the judges are focused on finding the best talent here in Baton Rouge,” the statement continued.

Johnny Depp is back and ready to rock.

The newly single Pirates of the Caribbean star has been avoiding the public eye since his split with long time partner Vanessa Paradis, but last night he stepped back into the lime light with a vengeance in Los Angeles, Calif.

Not one to be low key, Depp, 49, took to the Hollywood Bowl stage with Aerosmith to shred it on the guitar with Steven Tyler in front of almost 18,000 people.

What song did Depp play to announce he was back from his break up and where did the crew party afterwards?

The crowd went wild as Tyler announced Depp was in the bowl, as the band prepared to perform their closing song.

“We’re going to need a little help out here,” the ex American Idol judge yelled. “Johnny Depp, are you in the house?”

Strolling out on to stage as confident as his Pirates character Jack Sparrow, Depp wore his signature wide brimmed hat and dressed all in black, making it clear he was ready to rock.

After a quick exchange with the famous band, Aerosmith and their new lead guitarist launched into the classic rock song “Train Kept A-Rollin’”.

Boldly taking on the massive guitar solos, Depp shredded it like a pro for almost five minutes.

When the song finished up, Depp hugged all the band as Tyler thanked the audience.

“Thank you LA. You’ve been some crazy mother f**kers tonight,” Tyler screamed.

After the gig, the band and Depp kicked off a massive after party at Pink Taco on the famous Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. Check out the party snaps below.

“He wasn’t talking to any women,” a fellow Pink Taco party-goer told Celebuzz. “He was just hanging out with the boys.

“Johnny seemed really happy to be out and about.

This is the first time Depp has stepped out since splitting with his partner of 14 years, Paradis, 39.

This week, the rumor mill has churned out story after story about the future of American Idol, TV’s top-rated program that is said to be working on a major shake-up as it prepares to film its twelfth season later this year.

It all began on Monday, when rumors floated around that former Idol contestant Adam Lambert was being asked to join the show, a rumor he later referred to as just that — a rumor.

Flash forward to Friday. Now, two judges are out of the game; Steven Tyler announced his departure on Thursday, while Jennifer Lopez finally said adios on Friday, after arguably the world’s longest run-around ever.

Taking their place: a whole bunch of Internet rumors speculating who may or may not join the judges’ table when the show returns in January. (Today’s latest: Mariah Carey is now in talks to be a judge.)

So, what is really going on here?

Celebuzz has pulled together the five biggest updates since Monday to help our readers figure out this admittedly messy situation. Check them out below, then tell us: What would you most like to see happen next season on Idol?

1.) Jennifer Lopez Is Out
Ryan Seacrest confirmed early Friday afternoon that Jennifer Lopez is departing American Idol, following his 14-minute interview with her earlier that morning, in which she did everything but officially confirm her exit.

“Just confirmed w/ @JLo she’s made up her mind…will leave idol. :( gonna miss her,” he wrote.

During the radio interview, Lopez, 42, vaguely hinted that she had made her decision. (“I honestly feel like that the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do that I’ve put, kind of, on hold, because I love Idol so much,” she said.) She pulled a similar stunt during an interview with TODAY on Thursday, in which she said, again vaguely, “I am thinking that maybe it’s time for me to go and do other things that I really love to do, like films, and right now I’m on tour and performing — all the things that I do.” Watch the video below:

2.) Steven Tyler Is Also Out
After months of speculation, Steven Tyler confirmed Thursday that he is leaving American Idol after two years with the show to focus on his band, Aerosmith. “I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band,” he said in a statement. “The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass – the ultimate in auditory takeover…On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the star.”

1.) Mariah Carey Is In — “Serious Talks,” Anyway
In perhaps an ironic twist of fate, singer Mariah Carey — who is good friends with former American Idol judge Simon Cowell — is said to be in “serious talks” to join the judges’ table, according to a source for PEOPLE. “She’s in play,” the source added. For a few seasons now, Carey’s name has floated around as a possible edition to the show. She was also scheduled to appear on the inaugural season of The X-Factor, in 2011; however she had to cancel due to travel complications from Hurricane Irene.

4.) Is Randy Jackson Out, Too?
In perhaps a second ironic twist of fate, Jackson, who is both Carey’s manager and the only remaining judge from the show’s original panel, may be moved out of the judges’ table into more of a mentoring role, sources tell US Weekly. The reason: “[Show producers] think they need to freshen everything up now,” said the source. Jackson joined Idol in 2002.

5.) Adam Lambert, Katy Perry, Miley Cyurs Get Caught in Rumor Mill
With the future of the judges’ table completely up in the air, seemingly every name in Hollywood was floated around this week as a possible replacement. Among the many: Adam Lambert, who referred to the report as a “beautiful rumor”; Katy Perry, who quickly denied she would join the show to The Hollywood Reporter; newly engaged singer-actress Miley Cyrus; and Nicki Minaj.

Fergie and will.i.am, who have been frequent guests on Idol, as mentors, are also in the mix, says Deadline.

American Idol shakeups have only just begun. Following Steven Tyler‘s departure from the hit singing competition, singer Jennifer Lopez revealed during an emotional phone call to On Air With Ryan Seacrest that she is leaving, too.

While Lopez hasn’t officially confirmed the news, Idol fans have been buzzing about replacement judges. Celebuzz readers sounded off on Twitter and Facebook, pleading their case for who they want to see fill their seats on the hit singing competition.

“After some long…hard…thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit,” the Aerosmith frontman said in a statement Thursday.

The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass – the ultimate in auditory takeover…On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the star.”

But the rock legend leaves with nothing but fond memories of his time on the hit show.

“IDOL was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it,” Tyler said. “Now it’s time to bring Rock Back.”

“Steven Tyler is a real ‘Idol,’ a rock legend. If you had told me 10 years ago he would be a judge on AMERICAN IDOL, I would have thought it impossible,” said show creator and executive producer Simon Fuller. “The fact that this became a reality and we had the pleasure of him gracing our stage for two seasons makes me very proud. I completely understand his desire to get back to his life as the singer in America’s greatest-ever rock band. AMERICAN IDOL will miss him!”

The news comes only hours after Tyler’s former co-judge, Jennifer Lopez, hinted to TODAY that she, too, might leave the show after two seasons.

“I am thinking that maybe it’s time for me to go and do other things that I really love to do,” Lopez told Natalie Morales on Thursday, “Like films, and right now I’m on tour and performing — all the things that I do.”

Earlier this week, Celebuzz spoke to a number of TV experts about the future of American Idol, many of whom agreed the show is in need of a complete overhaul.

Well,  it looks like that’s definitely begun to happen!

Less than 24 hours after Adam Lambert released his new sophomore album Trespassing, it has already taken the No. 1 spot on iTunes. To say the American Idol alum is ecstatic is an understatement.

“I already saw some pretty important reviews, and everything was kosher. That was a very validating… At the end of the day, being a mainstream artist obviously there is pressure to sell. I can’t control that, but I can control the quality of the songs,” Lambert, 30, told Celebuzz at the MLB Fan Cave in New York City.

Although he’s enjoying the success, he’ll be the first to admit it didn’t come easily. Now with Season 11 contestants Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips all vying for the coveted Idol title, Lambert is offering some advice to the wide-eyed singers.

“The transition from a TV talent contest to mainstream radio is really tricky. It is a whole other industry. The rules are different. Your music is based on a lot more than just popularity. The hardest thing about the show is maintaining your own integrity as an artist. You have to work hard. Nothing happens instantly after the show,” he advises.

On Thursday (May 17), Lambert will be returning to his old stomping grounds, performing his new hit “Never Close Our Eyes” on the Idol stage. While he promises an “off the charts” stage show, he’s hoping to pull a few antics of his own backstage — like possibly raiding judge Steven Tyler‘s wardrobe closet!

“I love [Aerosmith frontman] Steven Tyler — and his wardrobe. Every time he comes on screen, I’m like, ‘What the hell is he wearing?!’  I love it… I should ask him if I can raid his closet,” the Grammy-nominated singer joked.

Up next, Lambert will be filling in for one of his primary influences, the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, during five European concerts with Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen.

“I’m excited and honored. There is a lot of work to be done. It has been a while since I covered someone else’s music. It’s a different type of challenge. I’ve done research… I want to pay respect to Freddie. I don’t want to just copy him and do an impression. I’m trying the best I can, working together with Brian and Roger. It’s going to be beautiful,” Lambert gushed.

The former Idol alum has no plans to tour in promotion of his own album, Trespessing, but hopes to have “something lined up by the end of the year.”

In the meantime, his fans can expect to see his new music video for “Never Close Your Eyes” within a few weeks. Trying not to give the whole concept away, Lambert revealed, “It’s a little sci-fi. It challenges and reinterprets the lyrics. It’s not obvious. I mean, with me I’m not into the obvious. I like to twist things.”

When Steven Tyler is behind the judges’ table, you don’t know what’s going to happen! On Thursday night’s American Idol, the Aerosmith frontman decided he needed to take a dip in the pool that was conveniently placed behind the judges as they held auditions. 

Steven stripped down to nothing but his skull print boxer briefs that caused Jennifer Lopez to blush. “I’m gonna take my clothes off and go swimming,” the rocker exclaimed. ”Steven, don’t. … You’re crazy! Steven!” Jennifer exclaimed. “Just hold this for me,” he said, throwing his shirt to Jen.

It looks like American Idol judge Steven Tyler has picked a winner. TMZ reports that the legendary rocker is engaged! 

His longtime girlfriend Erin Brady was spotted wearing a giant sparkler on her ring finger, which sources say is an engagement ring. 

The two were spotted in Maui over Christmas, but it is unclear if the gift was a very romantic present or if he proposed prior to their holiday getaway. 

The happy couple has been dating since 20006.

Bad news for fans who were looking forward to seeing Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler perform in Paraguay this week, the American Idol judge has injured himself after falling in the shower TMZ reports.

As a result of the fall, Tyler reportedly knocked out several teeth, and according to TMZ, “a rep for the venue where the band was supposed to perform tells TMZ … tonight’s concert has been canceled. Calls to Tyler’s rep have not been returned.”

Season 10 of American Idol premiered on Tuesday night, with new talent, new judges — and new, but not great, ratings.

Taking the night’s highest ratings in its timeslot, the popular show earned 26.1 million viewers. That, however, compared to other Idol seasons, was it’s biggest ratings drop between seasons. It appears that viewers were hesitant to tune in to watch a Simonless Idol, but were pleasantly surprised by the new judges, established artists Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.

Tyler brought a great mix of heart and craziness to the judges’ table. If he keeps it up, he will definitely become a viewer favorite. Lopez brought sweetness and performance knowledge, reminiscent of original judge Paula Abdul, and returning judge Randy Jackson showed up energized and ready for a new season. As the performance phase of Season 10 approaches, these judges will surely draw in more viewers.
