Though Michelle Obama failed to appear on the March cover of Vogue magazine, fashion journalist Robin Ghivan reports that the First Lady will be gracing the April issue, which hits newsstands next week. Though there has been no official confirmation from Vogue or the White House, according to The Washington Post’s “The Reliable Source” blog, Annie Leibovitz photographed the First Lady wearing designs by Reed Krakoff and Michael Kors for the high-fashion mag. Despite all the buzz over Mrs. Obama’s rumored cover shoot, it won’t be her first Vogue cover. The First Lady wore a pink sheath on the cover of the March 2009 issue.

It’s not just the name of Rihanna‘s Diamonds World Tour that is getting the luxe treatment. The singer’s concert costumes are also be getting an upgrade courtesy of one of the singer’s favorite designers.

Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, who also dressed Madonna for last year’s Super Bowl, has designed a custom couture wardrobe for Rihanna’s Diamonds tour, which kicked off over the weekend.

With Tisci calling the costumes “a symbol of female empowerment and urban haute couture elegance,” expect to see a mix of Rihanna’s sexy-punk style mixed with Givenchy’s edgy opulence and dark romance (think: lots of black and gold).

According to WWD, Rihanna’s “Diamonds” costumes include a floor-length cape and thigh-high white leather boots, a parka with a “gold bullet motif,” mini-shorts paired with leather bras, and even “couture goggles” — all with lots and lots of gold embellishments.

“Rihanna represents what young and amazing means today,” Tisci said of the costumes. “She is punk and talented. She offers intelligence, energy and pure beauty. She is the face of her generation.”

Anne Hathaway attempted to clear up the controversy surrounding her Oscar dress by issuing a public apology to Valentino, the designer she was supposed to wear on the red carpet at this year’s Academy Awards.

Though the luxury fashion house (started by her good friend and wedding dress designer) released a statement hours before the Oscars confirming they would be dressing Hathaway for the red carpet, the starlet surprised more than just the peeps at Valentino when she showed up in a pink Prada dress with ill-fitting darts that created such a buzz that it earned the nickname “Nipplegate.”

In a statement to People magazine, the starlet — who ended up on more than a few worst-dressed lists for her pink dress’ ill-fitting darts — apologized for “any disappointment” her last-minute dress change caused, explaining that she ditched the Valentino dress she had planned to wear in order to avoid the ultimate red carpet fashion faux pas — aka “Copygate.”

“It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans,” Hathaway said in the statement.

According to Fashionista, the Valentino dress Hathaway had planned to wear turned out to be too similar to the Alexander McQueen gown her Les Miserables co-star Amanda Seyfried wore.

Meanwhile, Glamour reports that the lookalike Oscar dress may have belonged to Jennifer Aniston, who wore a strapless red Valentino dress to the Oscars.

Though neither Seyfried, Aniston, or Hathaway’s camps have confirmed the Valentino dress or fellow red carpet starlet in question, Valentino has gotten flack for dressing Sally Field and Hilary Swank (who only attended the Vanity Fair Oscar party) in similar red gowns with long trains.

“Love You Like a Love Song” singer Selena Gomez has paired up with OPI nail polish to create a range of 14 dazzling shades for the brand’s Nicole line — ranging from glittery lacquers to eclectic brights. “Millions of fans love Selena for the same reasons we do; she’s smart, talented, funny—and has and incredible sens of style,” explained OPI executive VP and artistic director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, who described the collaboration as a reflection of Gomez’ shining image. Selena Gomez can’t seem to kick her Bieber fever.

Though she may have parted ways with Justin Bieber romantically, she’s following in his fashionable footsteps professionally.

Glamour‘s woman of the year has signed on as the female face of Adidas Neo, joining on-again-off-again beau Bieber, who was named the brand’s style icon in October.

Is Adidas’ choice of spokepersons merely a coincidence, or is the sportswear line banking on the two getting back together?

Adidas’ announcement comes on the heels of an apparent reunion between the two stars.

After joining Biebs to celebrate his big win at the American Music Awards over the weekend, Gomez made her first appearance as Adidas Neo’s brand ambassador on Tuesday.

The company didn’t mention the actress’ relationship with the male face of their hip new brand, posting the following statement about Neo’s new global brand ambassador on the Adidas blog: “Selena is very close to the target NEO consumer, so she really understands the brand’s philosophy of being edgy but comfortable.”

Like her seemingly on-again man, the Disney star kicked off her new campaign with an online contest. While Bieber fans had to find the singer’s hidden gold sneakers, Gomez fans can enter to win a chance to meet the starlet and be a part of a “crazy new type of fashion show” by answering a series of questions on the company’s website.

Whether or not the two officially get back together, Adidas ambassadors will be bound to each for the foreseeable future: Gomez has signed a three-year contract with the company, a slightly longer commitment than Bieber, who inked a two-year deal.
