First, Ron Howard announced that he was in talks to adapt Neil Gaiman‘s The Graveyard Book. Now, the director is reportedly circling another novel to turn into a movie: The Heart of the Sea. Howard could start shooting Sea as early as this fall for Warner Bros., re-teaming the director with Chris Hemsworth, the star of Howard’s upcoming Formula-One racing drama, Rush. Sea, set in the 19th Century, tells the story of sailors lost at sea after being attacked by a sperm whale. And yes, this tale went on to inspire the classic Moby Dick. [Vulture]

Chloe Grace Moretz, who recently wrapped work on the remake of Stephen King‘s Carrie, is attached to star next in an adaptation of YA novel If I Stay.

Twilight‘s Dakota Fanning was previously attached to star in the film, which tells the story of Mia, a 17-year-old cellist destined for big things, until a terrible car accident puts her in a coma. The story unfolds from Mia’s “out of body experience” while still in the coma. Nashville‘s RJ Cutler will direct, marking his feature film debut. [Variety]

Fresh off writing The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete, one of the most talked about movies at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Michael Starrbury has landed a new gig. On Wednesday, it was announced that Starrbury will rewrite the script for Morgan Creek’s untitled  Tupac Shakur biopic. The film will chronicle the rapper’s rise to fame in the 1990s, culminating with his murder in 1996. A director has yet to sign on, but expect one to board the project soon. [Deadline]

The Muppets sequel keeps collecting quite the cast. First Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais, now Ray Liotta. The Goodfellas star has officially signed on to play an undisclosed role in the film, which starts shooting this month. This is not Liotta’s first run-in with the Muppets; he previously played a dim security guard in Muppets From Space. The Muppets sequel, rumored to be titled The Muppets…Again, is set for release on March 21, 2014. It was recently announced that January Jones will return for Mad Men‘s sixth season, but will she reprise her role as the villainous Emma Frost for the X-Men: First Class sequel? “I don’t know that I’m in it, I don’t think Emma’s in this one,” Jones told Collider.com on Thursday. While Jones has yet to hear from X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer regarding her character’s return, she does remain slightly optimistic. “I wouldn’t put it past them though. I got the script for the first one on the airplane on the way there.” [Collider]

Coen Brothers fans? We saved the best for last. The first trailer for the Coens’ new movie, Inside Llewyn Davis, is now online. Drive‘s Oscar Isaac plays the titular folk singer, who is struggling to find his way on the music scene in the 1960s. Frequent Coen collaorator John Goodman (The Big Lebowski) also stars. Watch the trailer below.

Emma Stone is going to have some company in Guillermo Del Toro‘s upcoming haunted house thriller, Crimson Peak. Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam is in early talks to reunite with his Pacific Rim director for the Legendary Pictures release. Story details are being kept top-secret, but we do know that this Gothic horror film is set in London and is aiming to start production in February 2014. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s directorial debut made a significant mark on Sundance 2013, and soon the rest of the moviegoing public will be able to see it.

On Monday, Relativity Media bought U.S. rights to distribute Gordon-Levitt’s porn addiction comedy, Don Jon’s Addiction - which JGL also wrote and stars in. The film will hit theaters this summer. ”I couldn’t be happier, it’s what I always wanted for this movie,” Gordon-Levitt said on his website, hitRECord. Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum also star. [Deadline]

Artist Drew Struzan has designed posters for every franchise from Indiana Jones to Star Wars, and the latter just might draw him out of retirement. In an interview on Monday, Struzan revealed that Disney recently contacted him about creating marketing materials for the new Star Wars trilogy. But will he do it? “I guess there is always a chance,” Struzan said. “There’s no intention. … If the opportunity arises, it will be a real temptation.” Please do it, Mr. Struzan. Just so we don’t have to endure the sound of nerds crying. [Vulture]

Chris Evans isn’t the only Captain America star who will be reprising his role for the sequel. Toby Jones confirmed that he will once again play the villainous Arnim Zola in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The sequel takes places years after the WWII-set first film, which implies that Jones’ character will most likely be seen via flashback. Soldier, which also features The Hurt Locker‘s Anthony Mackie as good guy Falcon, opens on April 4, 2014. First, it was dueling volcano movies. Then planet-killing asteroid/comet pictures. Now, Hollywood has two competing John McAfee movies in the works. Running in the Background, from Equinoxe Films, is a $28 million feature based on the life of the wealthy tech wiz-turned-global fugitive. Background comes in the wake after Warner Bros. announcement to release their own McAfee project written and directed by Crazy, Stupid, Love‘s John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, based on a Wired Magazine article. Every year, Hollywood makes the trek up north to Park City, Utah for the prestigious Sundance Film Festival — and 2013 is no exception.

Whether they’re in a featured festival film or not, stars such as James Franco and Nicole Kidman have all flocked to the snowy slopes to mingle with fellow celebrities.

This year’s competing films boast a large number of A-listers, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson, Ashton Kutcher, Amanda Seyfried, Shia LaBeouf and Daniel Radcliffe.

With so many star-studded films set to premiere at Sundance 2013, there’s bound to be a famous face around every corner.

Singer Alicia Keys steps behind the camera for The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete, of which she is an executive producer and sets the score for the drama about inner city youths.

“The reason I wanted to be involved in the piece — straight off the bat — was because the writing was so superb that it enveloped you,” she told Celebuzz at the movie’s premiere. “Even just reading the script, midway through it you’re laughing, you’re yelling…you’re just emotionally attached.”

The film also stars fellow songstress Jennifer Hudson as a drug addict named Gloria.

This week Hollywood converges on the ritzy slopes of Park City, Utah for the annual Sundance Film Festival.

Jessica Biel, Amanda Seyfried, Kristen Bell and Reese Witherspoon, are among the stylish stars we’re excited to see in Park City this week. This year’s festival will also be home to a few fashionable red carpet reunions, with Mad Men stars January Jones and Elizabeth Moss each showing films, and American Idol alums Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks starring in a flick together.

Of course, what we’re really dying to see is the fashion — and Sundance’s red carpets are like none other. Forget spray tans and gowns and six-inch stilettos, Park City’s snowy slopes call for a different dress code.

Sundance is kinda like seeing your teacher on the weekend — but about a million times more exciting. It’s the rare chance to see our favorite actors dressed down in jeans, sweaters, earmuffs and puffy jackets. Most of them will also be carrying Sundance’s number one accessory — a cup of coffee.

In honor of the Sundance style that’s about to hit this week, we’re taking a look back at how stars have braved the cold in style over the years.
