Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley are hitting the town on New Year’s Eve and hosting MTV’s Club NYE 2013. They’ll be joined comedian Jeff Dye to watch the ball drop. The special will feature performances by Kesha, Ne-Yo, Sean Kingston, and Rita Ora among others. Snooki is hoping to use “a leopard bedazzled mircophone” for her hosting duties. CBS has announced it’s midseason schedule. New series, Golden Boy will have a special preview on Tuesday, Feb. 26 and Tuesday Mar. 5 at 10 PM before moving to Friday on Mar. 8 at 9 PM. Meanwhile the spring editions of Survivor and The Amazing Race will premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 13 and Sunday, Deb. 17 respectively. Both at 8 PM. [CBS]

MTV’s 24-hour college network, mtvU, has named its man and woman of the year for 2012. Singer/songwriter Frank Ocean and Pakistani social activitst Malala Yousafzai were chosen for the honor as they both attempt to challenge the status quo in their respective communities. Starting Thursday the network will profile the two honorees on-air and online. [mtvU]

Judd Apatow has reunited the cast of his show, Freaks and Geeks, for the comedy issue of Vanity Fair. The beloved show, which was cancelled after one season featured Linda Cardellini, Jason Segel, Seth Rogan, Busy Phillips and James Franco. See the photoshoot here. [Hollywood.com]

Celebuzz’s sister site Socialitelife.com editor Kelly Lynch was featured on an episode of E!’s comedy clip show, The Soup. Lynch, who hosts the royal-based web show, The Duchess Diary, was subject to an audio malfunction which changed her voice during a segment for Los Angeles’ FOX News 11.

The Amazing Race received yet another win for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program at the 2012 Emmys and host Phil Keoghan couldn’t be any prouder of the series.

The show, which has won 13 Emmys since its debut in 2001, beat out nominees The Voice, Dancing With the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef and Project Runway during Sunday night’s awards ceremony.

“The nomination to me is a real badge of honor for any show,” Keoghan told Celebuzz on the red carpet. “It’s an acknowledgement of a lot of hard work.”

He continued:

“We have been so lucky to have been nominated so many times that we really fight and work really, really hard to try to keep [the show] going.”

In fact, The Amazing Race‘s decade-long success has allowed Koeghan’s daughter, Elle, to attend the Emmys thanks to a deal she struck with her father when she was a kid.

“I’ve been lucky enough to come here for 10 years and it’s the first time I’ve brought my daughter,” he revealed to Celebuzz. “I promised her if I’m lucky enough to be nominated when you’re 16 years old, you can walk the carpet with me — so this is kind of cool.”

“Time goes fast,” he added, smiling.

It’s no surprise that the return of NBC’s The Voice topped the ratings charts on Monday night. However, with only 12 million viewers, the reality competition’s premiere had it’s lowest ratings for a season opener yet, having dropped from 36 million viewers during its previous time slot premiere this past February. Of course, those numbers were inflated by premiering after the special Super Bowl episode. [The Wrap]

It’s official Katie Couric can officially put successful talk show host on her resume. Her show Katie tied for the best daytime premiere since the debut of Dr. Phil in September 2002. The episode, which featured Jessica Simpson and Sheryl Crow as guests, easily beat the recent talk show premieres of Steve Harvey, The Jeff Probst Show, The Ricki Lake show and the updated Anderson Cooper show, Anderson Live. Katie received a 2.8 household rating and was first or second in the top 15 US markets. [The Wrap]

Listen up! If you’re a fan of CBS’ Sunday night lineup including 60 Minutes, Big Brother, The Amazing Race, The Good Wife and The Mentalist and you live in the eastern or central time zone, your shows’ schedules are in for a change. On Sundays when the network is featuring back-to-back NFL football games, which can sometimes (okay often) run long, CBS will push back the lineup a half an hour.
