Since it’s debut last summer, Aaron Sorkin’s HBO drama The Newsroom has left critics with a common complaint: the so-called “women problem,” a term many use to describe what they think is Sorkin’s disparaging writing of the women.
After critics applauded The Newsroom for turning a corner with its season two premiere, cast member Olivia Munn hoped Aaron Sorkin’s HBO series — about the behind-the-scenes happenings of the fictional Atlantis Cable News channel — could earn Emmy recognition.
It’s a strange category to handicap this year. Sunday’s ceremony will most likely see a face-off between Showtime’s Homeland and PBS’s Downton Abbey, both of which won in 2012.
