After nine seasons, Dunder Mifflin is closing its doors forever.

Though NBC’s The Office has seen plenty of changes through its run, its humor and heart have always been the center of the show.

Starting out as an American remake of the famed British series, it has since blossomed into a show full of inside jokes and memorable quotes that will be forever be emblazoned on t-shirts everywhere. (“That’s what she said,” anyone?)

As the Scranton gang part ways in the swan song episode this Thursday, Celebuzz is taking a look back at what this show has taught loyal readers about beets, bears and Battlestar Galactica life.

Ahead of the show’s series finale this Thursday, the cast of The Office is saying goodbye to each other, to the show’s fans and to Scranton, PA. The video is a little on the long side, but definitely worth it for fans who’ve stuck with the show for eight years.

With The Office set to end in the next couple of months, everyone is dying to know: Will Steve Carell return for the show’s much-anticipated series?

Probably not, according to two of its stars.

“I wouldn’t hold my breath,” Oscar Nunez told Celebuzz Sunday night at the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

“I think we’ll see him, but I don’t think he’s gonna be on the show,” added Nunez’s co-star, Kate Flannery.

Carell left the show in 2011, after seven seasons with the top-rated NBC comedy.

The show itself ran for an additional two seasons without him, and will officially say its goodbye later this year.

How will it all end? Rather morbidly, according to Flannery.

“We’re actually planning a group suicide at the end of the show,” she quipped on the red carpet.

“I did not get that memo,” added Nunez.

The O.C. alum Adam Brody has been tapped to guest on the sophomore season of Showtime’s House of Lies. Brody’s character is the owner of an adult toy company who engages in a relationship with Jeannie (Kristen Bell). Season 2 of House of Lies premieres Jan. 13 at 10 PM on Showtime. [Showtime]

Basketball Hall of Famer, Julius “Dr. J” Erving is going to play some ball with Jim Halpert (John Krasinkski) on NBC’s The Office. The episode, set to air Jan. 17, will feature the basketball player as an investor in Jim’s sports marketing business. [EW]

TV Land is picking up The Soul Man for Season 2 and The Exes for Season 3. The Soul Man, which stars Cedric “The Entertainer,” will also be getting a new showrunner in the form of Yvette Lee Bowser (Living Single). Both shows are set to return in June 2013 with 10 new episodes. [Deadline]

Cable network Bravo delivered its seventh consecutive best year ever in 2012 among total viewers and the 25-54 age demographic. The network also nabbed the most viewers and remained No.1 for viewers age 18-49, and 25-54. In a statement, Frances Berwick, president of Bravo said, “With over 400 hours of high quality original programming, 2012 was marked by record achievements across returning and new series, digital innovations like Play Live, Transmedia and Zeebox, brand extensions like the Top Chef Kitchen and multi-platform partnerships. We are in great shape to launch an exciting new slate of programming for 2013, which includes our first scripted original series.” [Bravo]

Season 2 of Randy to the Rescue is set to premiere in May 2013 on TLC. The network has confirmed that hair stylist Lindsay Yamashita and makeup artist Raychel Wade as the new beauty team for the second season.
This season, Randy will be visiting Denver, Seattle, Oklahoma City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, Miami, Savannah, D.C., and Chicago to make brides’ fantasies come true. [TLC]

Did you love NBC’s American Dreams? Well if so, you’re in luck, as much of the cast of the show will be attending the second annual ATX festival in Austin, Texas in June. With ratings down all around, CBS still won the night. CSI hit a series low while Survivor and Criminal Minds were also down. All of the comedies on ABC also hit season or series lows. Meanwhile, FOX’s The X Factor nabbed 7.7 million viewers. [TV Guide]

It’s time for the Best Funeral Ever. TLC has ordered a special/backdoor pilot of the show that goes behind-the-scenes of an unconventional funeral home. At the home, funeral director John Beckwith asks families to create a special theme for a memorial and then throws a big party to celebrate the deceased The special, which airs on Dec. 26, will feature Christmas-inspired and BBQ-themed funerals. Just a couple of months after Tyler Perry made a deal with the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), the network has now announced the two series the star will oversee. Perry will have a hand in new drama, The Haves and the Have Nots, and comedy, Love Thy Neighbor. Both shows are set to begin production next year and slated to premiere in mid 2013. [THR]

As NBC’s The Office approaches its series finale next year, it’s not just the fans who want Steve Carell to come back before the curtain falls for good.

“I hope he does [make an appearance],” Wilson told Celebuzz at the CNN Heroes event on Sunday in downtown Los Angeles.

But he stopped short of confirming if Michael Scott will come back to stir up the water cooler talk at Dunder Mifflin.

“I don’t know if he is,” Wilson added. “You have to talk to the powers that be. I’m just a lowly character actor.”

Carell, 50, left The Office in 2011 after eight seasons to focus on his movie career and his family.

Wilson even poked fun at himself on the serious night, which was hosted by CNN and Anderson Cooper, celebrating individuals who made extraordinary contributions to humanitarian aid over the past year.

“The real celebrities are the people making a difference in the world, not the people telling dumb jokes on stupid TV shows like myself,” said the 46-year-old actor.

The Office is currently in its ninth and final season. The series finale date is yet to be set.

Rejoice Community fans! Your favorite show is back, both in Canada and the US. However, our lucky neighbors to the north are getting the jump on NBC in 2013 as they’ll get the Season 4 premiere on CityTV almost a month early on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013. The show will premiere in the US on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 8 PM according to a tweet from star Yvette Nicole Brown, who plays Shirley on the quirky comedy. Though most New York based TV shows will stay dark Tuesday in the wake of Hurricane Sandy’s aftermath, Jimmy Kimmel Live! will broadcast a new show Tuesday from The Harvey Theater at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Guests on Jimmy Kimmel will include Howard Stern, Tracy Morgan, and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. Jimmy Fallon and David Letterman will again tape in front of an empty studio for their late night broadcasts. [EW]

When Hurricane Sandy slammed New York City, it wasn’t just torrential rain and wind that did the damage. A Rockaway, Queens neighborhood was impacted by a huge fire that destroyed at least 50 homes including those which have housed our favorite television characters. The residences featured in NBC’s Seinfeld, FX’s Rescue Me and Woody Allen’s 1987 film Radio Days were all destroyed in the blaze. [Hollywood.com]

In addition to the February premiere of Community, NBC has also announced its midseason premiere dates and changes for debuts from January to March. Three new series will debut on the network: Deception (formerly Infamous) will debut on Jan. 7; 1600 Penn on Jan. 10; and Eva Longoria’s Ready for Love on Mar. 31. In addition, the fourth cycle of singing competition, The Voice, will kick off on Mar. 25/26 with freshman success Revolution returning Mar. 25. The Biggest Loser featuring the return of Jillian Michaels will have a two-night premiere on Jan 6 and 7. Smash will hit the small screen with Jennifer Hudson on Feb. 5. Meanwhile, The Celebrity Apprentice will debut Mar. 3 and Betty White’s Off Their Rockers will come back Jan. 8. [NBC]

NBC’s 30 Rock is going political in anticipation of next week’s presidential election. On Thursday’s episode, Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) and Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) will attempt to sway Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski) towards their political affiliations and use Twitter to do so. Jack, a heavy conservative, is attempting to get her to go Romney, “Just one tweet from you to your fans and [Mitt] Romney wins. It’ll be historic. The first really, really rich president.” [People]

ABC, NBC, and The Weather Channel are allowing viewers to watch their coverage on their smart phones by live-streaming their news programs this morning for all those affected by the storm. [EW]

NBC has decided against giving us more Dwight (Rainn Wilson) after the final season of The Office concludes this year. The network has decided not to buy the proposed spin-off of The Office. The news was first reported by Wilson on his Twitter account. The pilot may still air as an episode of this season of The Office. [NY Times]

The finale of the Twilight Saga is almost upon us and MTV is ready to bring you everything you could ever want to know about Twilight and Breaking Dawn Part 2. The network’s coverage begins with a special sit down interview, MTV First: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 , with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. The interview will include a never-before-seen clip of the new film and will air on Thursday at 8 PM EST. The interview will continue online after the on-air portion. The weekend before the movie’s release on Nov. 15, MTV will have a Twilight Takeover weekend featuring interviews with the cast from years past. [MTV]

Fans of FOX’s Raising Hope  just got their day made a bit brighter as the Season 3 premiere is now available on Twitter. The episode will be the first to play within Twitter itself and will be available on the site through Sept. 27. The third season premiere will feature Sabrina (Shannon Woodward) introducing the Chance family to her mother Tamara (Melanie Griffith). [EW]

Who will the Ferris Bueller, we mean Matthew Broderick play on the popular ABC comedy? 

Broderick is going to hang with the Dunphys on ABC’s Modern Family this season. Not surprisingly he’ll play a “neurotic friend” of Phil (Ty Burrell). No information is available as of yet regarding when he’ll appear in Season 4 but what hijinks do you think they’ll get into? [TV Guide]

Thursday’s premiere of the final season of NBC’s The Office hit a major ratings low for the epic comedy series. The episode showed a staggering 46 percent drop in the key 18-49 demographic and only garnered 4.3 million viewers for the show. NBC’s other comedies Up All Night and Parks and Recreation were also down in their ratings. (C’mon folks, watch Parks and Rec … it is amazing!) In other news, The X Factor improved by 10 percent over it’s performance last Thursday. [EW]

Yet, another Olympian has booked a gig on a television show. U.S. Olympic track and field star Kerron Clement will play an extra in the Coffeehouse on the CBS’ The Young and the Restless. The athlete said in a statement that’s he’s been a fan of the show since the 90s. [EW]

Lifetime’s Army Wives has been renewed for a seventh season. The series which is based upon the book, Army Wives: The Unwritten Code Of Military Marriage, will return with 13 episodes in 2013. [Deadline]

There really is something comfortable about having Matthew Perry back at the home of his iconic buddy sitcom, Friends. And NBC knows it.

The network dispatched Perry to host its 2012 Primetime Preview show in which the star of NBC’s new comedy, Go On, returned to his old stomping grounds.

Perry takes viewers on a 23-minute tour through the Peacock Network’s primetime offerings. Watch above as Perry gives you the lowdown on NBC’s fall schedule.

After nine seasons, Dunder Mifflin is closing its doors.

Original Office showrunner Greg Daniels – who returned to the helm for Season 9 — broke the news Tuesday that this upcoming season will be the last for the popular NBC comedy.

“This year feels like the last chance to really go out together and to make an artistic ending to the show that pays off a lot of the stuff that has mattered most to fans with the core characters,” Daniels told a group of reporters. “This will be the last season of The Office. We’re planning a very big exciting last season.”

Bob Greenblatt, the Chairman NBC Entertainment, released the following statement to Celebuzz:

“The Office is a classic, award-winning television comedy and all of us at NBC couldn’t be prouder to have produced and telecast the series as it heads into its ninth season.  Greg Daniels, the cast, and crew have some terrific storylines planned for the final season. Fans are in for a treat.  It’s always difficult to see these kinds of shows come to an end, but we are honoring the cast’s and producers’ desire to make this the final season.”

Office star Angela Kinsey seemed to echoe Greenblatt’s sentiment, tweeting, “It is true. This is our last season. We hope to give a real end to these characters we love to play. Thx for watching.”

Daniels told reporters that he and the writers have big things in store for Jim (John Krasinski), Pam (Jenna Fischer) and the rest of the Dunder Mifflin gang — including some familiar faces.

“We’re going to Roy’s wedding,” he said. “David Wallace is running the show, the Dunder-Mifflin show. We have a lot of funny stories, we’re telling some crazy Dwight stories we’ve wanted to tell for years.” P

erhaps Dwight’s “crazy” storylines will be the perfect lead-in for the show’s anticipated spinoff, The Farm, which will center on Dwight’s life on his family’s beet farm.

However, the question on everyone’s mind is whether or not former Office star Steve Carell will reprise his role as Michael Scott.

“We would certainly wish for it,” Daniels said. “We’re not going to put so much pressure on Steve by writing something that could only work if he returned. But it would be fantastic if he returned.”

The Office kicks off its final season on Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

Everybody wants a piece of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart since tabloids broke the story last week that Stewart was unfaithful to her Twilight costar boyfriend.

Not the least among them is Leslie David Baker, star of NBC’s The Office — starting its ninth season this fall.

What does Baker say about the star-crossed couple?

“All of the four of them will work it out,” Baker told Celebuzz of Pattinson, Stewart, Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, and wife Liberty Ross, at last week’s 38th annual Saturn Awards, celebrating science fiction and horror film and TV, in Burbank, Calif. “All I know is I wasn’t invited to participate. And, that’s all I will say about it.”

Baker was quick to note, “That’s not my business. They’re grown people. They’re grown.”

Although Baker showed moderate interest in Breaking Dawn Part 2, he knew the apparent Pattinson/Stewart cheating story, with minimal introduction.

“Will I go see it? Possibly, possibly. As opposed to waiting for it to come to TV,” Baker said. “I love horror films. I love science fiction films.”

Shooting for The Office begins Monday. The cast has read through scripts together for the first two episodes.

“It’s going well [so far]. You’re going to see some new additions,” Baker says. “Catherine Tate is still with us, she’s back. The first episode is, we’re back in the office, and there’s craziness. Some episodes, we’re out of the office acting crazy. This episode, we’re in the office acting crazy.”

Will you be watching The Office this fall?

There’s no telling if Josh Groban will be able to sing his way out of a paper jam at Dunder Mifflin, but his role as Andy Bernard’s brother will turn The Office upside down.

During a press conference call, Office star Ed Helms dished all about the guest appearance hinting that there will be singing but a rivalry brewing between the two characters will cause a lot of drama. Sounding excited about the episode, Helms revealed:

“Josh is a part of a really exciting episode for me and for Andy because it’s really where we learn a lot about Andy, and not all of it’s good. Some of it’s sort of poignant. There of course is some fun music that gets mixed in there too. There is some rivalry but it takes a compelling turn that I think is unexpected. The source of the rivalry may not be what you expect.”

Fans hoping to hear Ed and Josh sing will get their wish during the episode, which is tentatively set to air in late October. 

“Of course Josh is a great singer and that wasn’t lost on our writers… I’m excited to show the fans kind of where and how Josh’s character fits into Andy’s life and also what it means for who Andy is, and it’s not all good.”

When Steve Carrell announced last summer that he was leaving The Office, rumors about who would replace him as manager at Dunder Mifflin spread like wildfire. And now, finally after months of speculation,  Michael Scott’s replacement was finally revealed on the season premiere. James Spader and Jim Carrey were among those rumored to take over, and in a fun twist, the new manager turned out to be …. (SPOILER ALERT!)

Ed Helms!

Ed’s character, Andy Bernard, was chosen for the job after Spader’s character netted another gig — as CEO. Yep, he managed to talk current CEO, Jo (Kathy Bates), out of her own job!

The Office got a bit meta last night as Ricky Gervais, the creator of the original British version of the series (and recent Golden Globes pariah), made a guest cameo in the show’s intro — creating an incredibly awkward and hysterical exchange between Gervais and Steve Carell.

As Carell’s Michael Scott character, who’s essentially an Americanized version of Gervais’ original David Brent role, waited to get on the elevator. Once Gervais popped out, they immediately dove into a conversation that included spontaneous love, awkward back-and-forths, and in true Office style, very inappropriate workplace banter.

Carell tells Gervais that he’s working on a British character, prompting a horrible accent, when Gervais then counters with a stereotypical Asian impression. Then, after a “that’s what she said” joke inspires Carell to hug him, Gervais walks away and that was it: A clash of comedic brilliance and television internationalism.

Hot off his controversial turn as host of this years Golden Globes, NBC has confirmed that British funnyman Ricky Gervais will make an appearance on “The Office” — the American version of the show he created.

The Peacock Network says Gervais will reprise his role as David Brent — the boss in the UK version of the show. The episode is set to air January 27th, and EW reports people are calling the appearance a “small cameo” in a scene with Steve Carell’s character, Michael Scott. EW says the bit was shot months ago, but word leaked on Wednesday.

Red carpet critics be damned: The Office star/writer Mindy Kaling is standing by her Emmys fashion statement.

After wearing a tea-length black creation by budding Japanese designer Aguri Sagamori, Mindy made a few ‘worst dressed’ or more kindly-titled ‘fashion misses’ lists (including one at our site decided by fashion expert Lawrence Zarian – sorry Mindy! We dug it!). Hollywood Life called it a “disaster of a dress,” while MSN’s Wonderwall cracked, “Does this dress qualify you for admission to the Tulle Academy?” and fashion blog Styleite said while Mindy is hysterical on TV, “there’s nothing funny about her dress.”

Ouch. But guess what? Mindy, 31, isn’t cowering to Hollywood’s sometimes-bland standard of fashion, tweeting:

People get mad when I don’t wear a monochromatic column dress … “Timeless” is over-rated. Why on earth would I want to fit in anytime, anywhere? What am I, a time-traveler?

The blog Jezebel gave Mindy’s dress rare praise, saying it was “all kinds of awesome,” which prompted a thank-you tweet from Kaling, who said: “I like jezebel for letting me be me and not telling me to wear a navy empire waist gown cuz I’m not skinny.”

Mindy Kaling went for a dramatic look as she walked the red carpet at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday.

The Office star and writer wore a puffy black dress with large ruffles across the front. Mindy was nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for the “Niagara” episode of The Office.
