Cannes Film Festival 2012: See the Biggest Star Arrivals From Eva Longoria, Jessica Chastain & More! (PHOTOS)

Vive la France!

On Wednesday, the biggest and most glamorous film festival of them all, Cannes, kicked off in fittingly star-studded fashion.

Among the arrivals on hand for the opening ceremony: Eva Longoria, who wore a stunning gown with a super-long train; Jessica Chastain, who wore a white Alexander McQueen dress with a plunging neckline; and the always-eccentric Tilda Swinton, who lived up to her Oscar-winning title in a wrapped gold dress.

Celebuzz will be keeping you updated on all of the news — and, more importantly, the fashions — as the 65th annual Festival de Cannes gets underway. (If that wasn’t a big enough tease: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are both expected to attend the festival, so you’re going to want to mark your calendars.)

‘Young Adult’ Star Jokes Of Hosting Oscar Snubs Party

Michael Fassbender in a pirate hat, Tilda Swinton and Charlize Theron in a stolen police car, this is a party we’d like to see! Following the Academy Award nominees being revealed, Drive star Albert Brooks and Young Adult funnyman Patton Oswalt took to Twitter to jokingly call out the Academy for snubbing some of the biggest names on the big screen this past year.

It seemed to begin when Al — who was nominated for a Golden Globe this year – tweeted: “I got ROBBED. I don’t mean the Oscars, I mean literally. My pants and shoes have been stolen. … And to the Academy: ‘You don’t like me. You really don’t like me.” This tweet came after the 64-year-old actor said of Beginners star Christopher Plummer on Monday: “Tomorrow morning I find out if I have to go to any more events that Christopher Plummer wins.”

But it Patton — whose movie Young Adult and his costar Charlize were both snubbed — that took these Twitter jokes to another level when he created a faux Oscar snubs party. The actor wrote to Al:

“Join me for a drink at The Drawing Room, @AlbertBrooks? Me and [Rise of the Planet of the Apes actor Andy] Serkis have been here since 6am.”

Tilda Swinton Is Bold in Blue At 2012 Golden Globes (PHOTOS)

Tilda Swinton kept things very unpredictable when she arrived on the red carpet at the 2012 Golden Globes Sunday evening in Hollywood.

The Oscar-winning actress, who is known for her often-eccentric red-carpet looks, donned a light blue dress and jacket by Haider Ackermann, which she paired with a quirky updo. Suddenly, the word fierce has been given an entirely new definition.

Tilda is nominated tonight for her performance in the indie thriller We Need to Talk About Kevin. She was previously nominated for Michael Clayton and The Deep End.

Cute Looks Vs. Huh?

It’s that time of the week again! The past seven days were filled with a variety of outfits worn by everyone’s favorite (and not-so-favorite) stars. Celebuzz brings out the best and the worst in the newest edition of Cute Looks vs. Huh?

Our award for best look this week goes to the fashionable Eva Longoria Parker (above left), who looked GORGEOUS in her red, fitted mini-dress. On the other hand, actress Tilda Swinton‘s long, rainbow-colored dress-thing inspired only one word: Huh?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Unbutton ‘Benjamin’

Angelina Jolie, 33, and Brad Pitt, 45, led a crowd of celebrities at the West Coast premiere of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at Mann’s Theatre in Westwood Monday night.

Angelina looked simple yet elegant with her hair slicked back and in a black, strapless Versace dress complimented by dangling gold earrings by Ralph Lauren.

Companion Brad sported a Tom Ford tux with an almost 70s-era size bowtie and the Oil Can Harry mustache he’s been wearing for his film with Quentin Tarantino (Inglorious Basterds).

The couple graciously signed autographs for fans. Jolie reportedly almost fell over the crowd-control railings at one point during the signing.

Celebs in attendance included Button co-stars Cate Blanchett, 39, (a recent Hollywood Walk of Fame star recipient) in an Alexander McQueen beige dress with a jewel-encrusted overlay. A flowy Tilda Swinton, 48, wafted in with a peach, beige and white striped Rodarte gown.

Jennifer Lopez pursed her lips in her usual “come, hither to the J. Lo” pose and looked slinky in white, as Eva Longoria went with royal-blue silk.

Also on the red carpet were Brad’s parents, Bill and Jane Pitt, who posed for pictures with their son and his companion.

Rumors abound that Jane Pitt has remained good friends with Brad’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston (an admitted big fan of Brad’s new film), but it appears as if Mrs. Pitt has accepted her son’s new love, and the mother of his children.

The movie, based on an F. Scott Fitzgerald short story written in the 1920s about an 80-year-old man who ages backward and experiences romance (with Blanchett and Swinton) and loss, is already garnering Oscar buzz.

The LA Times raves about “an astonishing film that gets you thinking about love, time, aging, youth, impermanence, relationships, faith, communication and all the people who’ve had an impact—big or small—in your life.”

The special effects used to make Brad age backward in the film are also receiving astounded praise.

Pitt and 46-year-old director David Fincher appear to have a major hit on their hands, to go along with their previous successes together: 1995′s Se7en and Fight Club from 1999.
