Miracle Worker Tim Tebow, whose much-hyped trade to the New York Jets resulted in just 72 offensive snaps, was officially cut from the team’s roster on Monday, head coach Rex Ryan confirmed in an “Ugh, let’s pretend this never happened” statement.

“We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow,” Ryan said Monday. “Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped. Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward.”

The writing had apparently been on the wall ever since the Jets drafted West Virginia’s Geno Smith last week.

As for what will happen to Tebow, who somehow managed to take the Denver Broncos to the playoffs in 2012, some say he’ll have to switch positions completely if he wants to have a future in the NFL.

If that doesn’t work out, there’s always Dancing With the Stars.

Thank God — Tim Tebow is shirtless again.

The newly-minted New York Jets quartback bears his chiseled body for the September issue of men’s fashion magazine, GQ, to kick off the new NFL season.

But, sorry ladies, he’s not doing a shirtless Tebow.

The piece, titled “Have You Accepted Tim Tebow as Your QB and Sunday Savior?”, doesn’t feature a photo of the now-infamous Tebow elbow-on-the-knee pose.

Instead, the ESPY winner — who turns 25 on Aug. 14 — is snapped shirtless, arms outstretched and legs crossed, eerily reminiscent of Jesus on the cross.

As the former Denver Bronco prepares to hit the field for the first time with the New Jersey-based team, he’s praying for one thing.

“I think if they’re a Jets fan, hopefully they’ll be rooting for me,” Tebow told GQ.

“I’ll do whatever I can to help this team win football games,” added the Heisman Trophy winner, who joined the Jets in March. “I’ll give my heart and soul whenever I step on that field and even when I’m on the sidelines. And at the end of the day, that’s really all you can ask of someone.”

Tebow’s GQ cover hits stands Aug. 21, just three days after Gang Green takes on the New York Giants in a pre-season game on Aug. 18. The Jets’ first regular season match-up is set for Sept. 2, when they will go head-to-head with the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium.

Tim Tebow has been linked to starlets like Taylor Swift and Dianna Agron, but the New York Jets star hasn’t thrown many successful passes: he’s still single. And that makes Celebuzz wonder, who’s the perfect girl for Tebow?

Which ladies does she think could win Tebow’s heart?

Reccord’s first pick is 29-year-old track and field athlete Lolo Jones, who is expected to compete in this summer’s Olympics. During a recent interview on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Reccord notes, “Jones expressed interest in asking Tebow to go to a church with her because she’s had such a hard time finding a boyfriend.”

Another strong candidate: actress/musician/model Aly Michalka.

“Michalka has high morals and self-respect and began her career acting and performing music in local church productions,” Reccord says of the 23-year-old, a devoted Christian whose mother is a member of Christian music band JC.  ”Her Christian values and morals would be a great fit for a relationship with Tim Tebow.”

But surely 24-year-old Tebow — who won an ESPY award last week for “Best Moment” in recognition of an 80-yard touchdown pass – is looking for more than just a woman who doesn’t use foul language. What exactly does he want?

According to Reccord, Tebow is most likely looking for a girlfriend who’s a supporter, counselor, role model, believer, and, of course, a practicing Christian.

“A strong Christian individual, such as Tim Tebow, looks for a mate who has similar faith and values,” she says. “It’s important to Christians that their mate shares the same beliefs because Christian individuals put God first in their lives and credit him for giving them the life they live, whether it be in the limelight or not.”

New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow and Total Recall star Jessica Biel presented NY Knicks star Jeremy Lin with the ESPY for Best Breakthrough Athlete on Wednesday evening, and it looks like they cut loose a little bit backstage.

Lin shared the photo on his Twitter and thanked his fans, writing:

New York Giants star Victor Cruz is ready for some Tebow time.

The 25-year-old wide receiver attended the ESPY Awards last night and told Celebuzz that having Tim Tebow play for the New York Jets will be “intense, to say the least.”

“Any time you bring a guy like Tebow into the New York area … it’s always fun,” Cruz said. “Especially in the newspapers and stuff like that, but we’ll see. We play them in the pre-season, so we’ll see what’s up. We’ll see how it goes.”

Cruz didn’t elaborate any further about the 24-year-old quarterback, but there was one celeb he couldn’t stop gushing over.

When Celebuzz asked who he thinks would be an ideal cover girl, Cruz named a very famous singer:

“Rihanna. She’s my personal favorite. Her whole swagger. She’s just so edgy; she’s young and just kind of cares about herself.”

The 2012 ESPY Awards invade Hollywood on Wednesday night as stars of the sports world descend upon the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

He and the team received nods in four other categories, including Best Team, Best Championship Performance (James), Best Coach/Manager (Erik Spoelstra), and Best NBA player (James).

James faces stiff competition in the Best Male Athlete category from Serbian tennis phenom Novak Djokovic, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and Detroit Tigers’ pitcher Justin Verlander. Sports observers will be watching this category closely to see if James’ strong post-season performance can outshine his public image issues. (He was mercilessly mocked at previous ESPYS by host Seth Meyers).

WILL TEBOW GET BEST MOMENT?

Tim Tebow prepared for the ESPYS by getting a haircut in Beverly Hills last week (no swearing allowed), and must be hoping his 80-yard TD pass to Demaryius Thomas will earn him the Best Moment ESPY. The pass gave Tebow’s Denver Broncos a sudden death playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. But Tebo, 24, will have to contend with New York Yankees’ Derek Jeter snagging his 3,000th hit to get the win.

THE GUEST LIST

Veteran ESPY hosts Samuel L. Jackson and Meyers are expected to make appearances, as well as Lance Armstrong, who is currently facing new allegations of doping. NAS will be performing, and Jessica Biel, Kenny Chesney, and NASCAR’s Danica Patrick are slated to present.

Comedian Rob Riggle is taking over hosting duties, and we expect him to tackle the scandals and fads that swept the sports world over the past year, including the Linsanity surrounding New York Nick Jeremy Lin and the NFL’s Bountygate fiasco.

BATTLE OVER THE BREAKOUT ATHLETE

Everyone loves a champ coming out of nowhere, and that’s what this category is all about. The nominees include University of Kentucky basketball star Anthony Davis, Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III, Lin, and USA women’s soccer player Alex Morgan.

This one will test the powers of Linsanity and the unibrow. Lin’s popularity swept basketball fans at home and in his ancestral Taiwan, while Davis’ phenomenal performance led his team to an NCAA championship. Davis recently applied to trademark phrases about his unibrow, which has been talked about nearly as much as his game.

SURPRISES IN STORE

Some of the best ESPY moments have nothing to do with the awards themselves. Will Ferrell was hilarious in 2010 as Jeff Vuvuzela, the fictional inventor of the Vuvuzela. San Francisco Giants pitcher Brian Wilson showed up to the event last year wearing a spandex tuxedo. We’re sure there is more hilarity to come.

ESPY Awards nominee (and self-proclaimed man of faith) Tim Tebow will face off Wednesday night against popular NY Yankees player Derek Jeter for the ESPYs Best Moment Award.

The New York Jets quarterback — famous for his wholesome Christian image — arrived in Los Angeles in preparation for the ESPY Awards this week. Tebow was spotted getting groomed at the famed Chris McMillan salon in Beverly Hills over the weekend.

You’ll never guess what the 24-year-old hunk requested during his visit:

A client at the salon during Tebow’s visit told Celebuzz: “He asked for a woman to cut his hair who doesn’t curse.”

No word on which hair products the player prefers for his coif.  But props to Tebow for living up  to the wholesome image he projects, it’s a rare commodity.

The 24-year-old New York Jets quarterback was seen attending the ‘Schiaparelli And Prada: Impossible Conversations’ Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC on Monday evening, and looked incredibly handsome in a Ralph Lauren tux.

Tebow moved to the east coast recently, thanks to his trade from the Denver Broncos to the Jets.

Dianna Agron is too busy to date NY Jets player Tim Tebow!

Though the two have been rumored to be dating for quite some time, the 25-year-old Glee actress stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, and simply laughed off the silly rumors that they’ve been stuck in a love triangle with Taylor Swift. When the late night host brought up the possible love connection, she said: ”It’s crazy. Yeah, everything is really real on the Internet.”

Then, she explained a little bit as to why those rumors started.

“[Tim] signed with [the talent agency] WME. I’m with WME. I had a lovely 10 minute chat with him. Got a boyfriend, haven’t seen him since.”

The boyfriend she is referring to is Captain America‘s Sebastian Stan, but the two have since broken up. Before that, she also dated her I Am Number Four co-star Alex Pettyfer.

When asked if she would be interested in pursuing a relationship with the 24-year-old football stud, she replied: “I’m just trying to focus on work. Got a month left of filming to do.”

Talk about a class act!

In a statement released on his Facebook page, former Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow took some time to extend his gratitude toward his now former team, as well as the fans that were there with him, and for him, during the last (for him!) life-changing season.

Starting off with a bit of humor, he says:

“Well, that was an interesting couple of weeks! Now that things have finally settled down a bit, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you great Denver fans for all of your support. The ride that we were able to enjoy together this past season is something that I will always cherish. I’d also like to thank all of my former coaches and teammates as it was an honor to play for and alongside each of you. I will always be grateful to the Broncos organization for giving me the initial opportunity to fulfill my dream of being an NFL quarterback.”

Seriously, how can you NOT love this guy?!

He added:

“I’ve already said it 44 times so here goes number 45: I’m really excited to be a Jet! Haha! All joking aside, it’s truly an honor to be a Jet and I’m anxiously looking forward to going to work with all of my new teammates and coaches. Fireman Ed and the rest of Jets nation, I’m gonna play my heart out for you. J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!”

Earlier this month, Tim was traded from the Broncos to play for the New York Jets. Though many though he’d be setting up shop in the big apple, according to his Facebook page, it looks like he’ll be living in Florham Park, New Jersey. Hear that ladies?!

After Tim Tebow was spotted at Broadway’s Wicked, actors on the Great White Way have been eager to get the new New York Jets quarterback to stop by their theaters. Although Book of Mormon is likely the last musical on his list, Tony winner Nikki M. James, who plays Nabulungi in the show, revealed they’d give  the “virgin quarterback” full treatment — and probably an on-stage appearance — if he showed up.

“Well, the Jets have two quarterbacks now, so maybe Tim can take the day off and join us,” James told Celebuzz Monday night at MCC Theater’s annual Miscast gala in New York, adding she has the perfect number for him to perform.

“Perhaps instead of thanking God, he can throw his hands up and start saying things like ‘Hasa Diga Eebowai,’” she joked, referring to one of the numbers from the show. (Spoiler alert! In the musical, that phrase mildly translates to “F— you, God.”)

James added that, if Tim so desires, she’s sure that Book of Mormon creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone would love to have Tebow join the cast on stage for that particular number. “Could you imagine?! … I doubt this is the type of musical Tim will ever see, though,” Nikki lamented about the self-proclaimed Christian QB.

All kidding aside, the actress and her castmates are having the time of their life on stage.

“It’s silly. I don’t think there is a cast on Broadway having as much fun as we are. It is pretty exciting, because sometimes things happening on stage are as new to me as they are to the audience. When you’re working with people like Josh Gad, who is really off the cuff, there is a lot of fun and silly things happening on and off stage,” she said.

As for the rumors about a Book of Mormon movie, she says details are being kept from the Broadway cast.

“I wish I really knew more … I really hope they do a movie, and I hope that I get to be a part of it,” she said.

Tim Tebow has officially joined the New York Jets, which inevitably caused the fluttering of hearts among millions of gals hoping to win his affection — but they better get in line! Knowing that the religious quarterback “won’t settle for less than the best,” matchmaker Siggy Flicker has stepped in to dish her advice for landing the football heartthrob.

“The thing that will turn Tim on the most is a gal who is grounded. The Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton types need to go home. They’re too over the top for him. Although the religious quarterback been linked to Taylor Swift (and even invited her to his charity golf tournament next month in Ponte Vedra, Fla.), Siggy doesn’t think this puppy love will last.

“I love him with Taylor Swift because I believe she’s a hopeless romantic, but I don’t think Taylor is at a point in her life that it would work out for her,” said said.

Although there is some speculation that Tim might get involved with the nightlife and dazzle of New York, the VH1 matchmaker firmly believes he’ll stick to his roots and faith.

“He has God in his heart and soul. He’s a good role model… New York is not going to stir him up. He’s no A-Rod [Alex Rodriguez]. He’s not going to get caught up in the playboy lifestyle,” she said. “When he dates, he needs to be true to his faith, passions and what he believes in. The woman who lands him is going to be one lucky woman.”

The football world has been doing its own form of Tebowing this week amid reports that Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is headed to the New York Jets next season.

While we await to see if the deal goes through (it appears it will; Tebow updated his Facebook info this week to reflect the news), Celebuzz spoke exclusively with Tebow’s former coach Craig Howard, who guided the Tebow and the Nease High School Panthers to a state championship in 2005.

So, how will Tim do in the Big Apple?

“That guy is an interesting guy,” Howard said. “It seems, wherever he’s gone, success has followed. When he went to Nease High School, and came in there, we were a doormat. Four years later, we’re state champions. When he went to Florida, I told Urban Meyer, you’re getting more than just a quarterback. You’re getting a guy that’s gonna change your life and change Gator Nation. I think, four years later, you can say those things came through as he won National titles and won a Heisman Trophy.”

“Second year with the Broncos, they’re 1-4, he becomes the quarterback, they go to the playoffs and all of that Tebow maina started,” he continued. “So far, the track record has been, wherever he’s gone, success has followed. He’s just a winner and a charismatic guy. I think the people of New York and the Jets are in for a treat.”

“New York is what New York is, and he’ll just magnify everything. I think, again, he’s had this ability, and I don’t know why anything would change,” he added.

As for what advice he’d give to Tebow, Howard said, “When I talk to him, I always remind him to stay humble and keep working hard. He’s always the first one there and the last one to leave. He’s grounded in his faith, and he stays humble, and always gives credit to others. So, I think he’ll be fine.”

“I wish him the best of luck. Keep working. He’s the hardest worker I’ve ever seen in my life,” he added.

Brittny Gastineau, daughter of beloved NY Jets player Mark Gastineau, gave Celebuzz her reaction to the breaking news that 24-year-old quarterback Tim Tebow has been traded to the New York Jets after being the star QB of the Denver Broncos.

“I’ll always be a loyal Jet fan, because I’m from the best city in the world,” Brittny, 28, gushed.

It’s easy to see why the Jets snagged Tebow as soon as they could — he is the most talked about QB in the game today! Not only is he talented at the sport, but he has managed to stay humble and true to himself among the instant fame that came his way. Despite rumors of him heading to reality TV or romancing Katy Perry or Taylor Swift, Tebow is an all-around good guy, and you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who could disagree! In Defense of Mark Sanchez

Mark Sanchez isn’t just a pretty face, with incredible talent, who looks great in green and white — he also has a new 3-year deal with the Jets that will pay him $40.5 million. Jamie-Lynn Sigler, you may wanna rekindle that romance! At 6’2″, 225 pounds, this dark haired heartthrob is in a league of his own when it comes to being the most eligible bachelor in the NFL/world. And he’s fun! In HBO’s 2010 Hard Knocks series (which went inside the Jets training camp), we got to see just how funny (and eloquent) this starting QB can be! He’s clearly the hotter choice!

Looks like Tim Tebow will be in a New York state of mind for football season!

If all goes well, the 24-year-old quarterback will go from the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets, according to NBC Sports. 

However, his future with the team is still a bit undetermined.

NBC Sports says:

“It’s not clear whether the Jets plan to allow Tebow to compete for the starting job, or whether they expect him to be a wildcat quarterback, but the player who’s as famous as any in the league is now in the Big Apple.”

On Tuesday, it was officially announced that former Colts quarterback Peyton Manning would be suiting up for the Broncos, which eventually lead to Tebow’s trade.
