Apparently “hacking” is still a thing Hollywood wants to make movies about. Mark Wahlberg is set to produce a movie about computer hacking for Universal, with a script from writer Jonathan Herman. The yet-untitled film “centers on an anonymous, ruthless, highly-skilled hacker who targets the student body of a large suburban high school.” No word yet if dial-up or AOL discs will be involved. Johnny Depp‘s new movie is this close to finding its female lead. Who’s in contention?

Emily Blunt (The Adjustment Bureau), Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and The Town‘s Rebecca Hall are all circling the sci-fi thriller Transcendence. The film marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Wally Pfister (The Dark Knight), and it centers on a scientist (Depp) whose consciousness gets uploaded to the world’s first super computer capable of thinking for itself. The aforementioned actresses are in the running for the role of Evelyn, the wife of Depp’s character. Casting is expected to be locked down by Friday - Celebuzz will keep you posted. [Deadline]

The only thing better than giant robots vs. giant monsters is a trailer showing their battle royale. Warner Bros. has unleashed their first trailer for next summer’s Pacific Rim. Directed by Guillermo del Toro, the big-budget epic depicts humanity’s efforts to combat Godzilla-size beasts using 30-foot tall mech-warriors known as ‘Jaegers.’ Watch the trailer below.

Remember The Adventures of Tintin, Steven Spielberg’s first all-motion capture film? Well hold on to your butts, it’s getting a sequel. Peter Jackson, who produced the original, is gearing up plans to direct the follow-up.
