The Muppets 2 just took it to 11 with the help of Tina Fey. The 30 Rock star and host of this year’s Golden Globes is in “late stage negotiations” to star opposite former Globes host, Ricky Gervais, in the Disney sequel. Fey is circling the leading female role in the film, to be directed by the original Muppet’s helmer James Bobin. Less than 24 hours after Joseph Gordon-Levitt signed on for a role in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For comes word of another big casting announcement.Who joined the ensemble?

Academy Award-nominated actor Josh Brolin has locked down role of “Dwight” in the prequel, a part which was previously played by Clive Owen in the original film. Brolin joins returning Sin City stars Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson for Dame, which will unleash all sorts of bloody violence when it hits theaters on October 4, 2013. [Deadline]

Clutch the pearls – even more casting news! Magic Mike’s Alex Pettyfer is one of the names vying for the lead role in the YA-adaptation Divergent, starring The Descendents’ Shailene Woodley. Newcomers Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class) and War Horse’s Jeremy Irvine are also circling the role in the film, which could kick off a Twilight-sized franchise for distributor Lionsgate. [Variety]

Michael Bay bypassed the whole press release thing and took to the internets to announce the latest actor to join the director’s Transformers 4. Newcomer Jack Reynor has joined the first film in a planned trilogy, which takes place 4 years after the events of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Reynor stars opposite Mark Wahlberg in the Paramount tentpole, which promises to be just as loud and explode-y as the previous films when it’s released on June 27, 2014. One writer has kicked off the new year by securing a high-profile assignment. Relative unknown Kealan O’Rourke will adapt The Houdini Box for Chernin Entertainment. Based on the book by Hugo Cabret author Brian Selznick, the story centers on a young boy who idolizes the famous magician. Upon receiving an invitation to Houdini’s house, the boy discovers that the magician has died and left the child a mysterious box. [Variety]

Seth Lochhead, the co-writer of the action thriller Hanna, has signed on to pen the movie adaptation of the popular video game, Shadow of the Colossus. Chronicle’s Josh Trank is attached to direct the fantasy epic for Sony, soon after he completes work on Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Dust off your Aviators and get ready to go back to the Danger Zone, Top Gun is returning to the big screen! Paramount has issued a press release announcing the IMAX 3D re-release of the 1986 hit starring Tom Cruise on February 8, 2013.

Christmas has come early for fans of the popular mobile game, Angry Birds. Rovio Entertainment has announced, via press release, that a 3D, CG-animated film adaptation is due in theaters Summer 2016. Producers John Cohen (Despicable Me) and David Masiel (Iron Man) will develop the film, which has yet to lock down a writer or director.

Fans wanting a sequel to Kill Bill are in for disappointment. “I don’t know if there’s ever going to be a Kill Bill. Vol 3. We’ll see, probably not though,” Quentin Tarantino said in a recent interview. The director did indicate, however, that his next project might be a “companion piece” to Django Unchained and Inglourious Basterds, forming an unofficial trilogy of sorts. With Transformers: The Dark of the Moon set to set the box office on fire when it opens wide on Wednesday, the cast and crew have been traveling the world over the past week to get the buzz going. And, because it’s a pretty big freaking deal, they even had a massive performance by Linkin Park in Moscow to kick things off.

The rockers drew crowds in the tens of thousands to come out to Red Square as they performed their new song “Iridescent.” This is the third time the band has had a single tied to a Transformers movie.

Moscow was just a part of Linkin Park’s time overseas. Following the Red Square concert, they’re spending time traveling across Europe as part of their ongoing tour.

Transformers is set to open up in the U.S. on June 29. Check out the trailer below: 

The chemistry apparently transcended offscreen between Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. When the 25-year-old actor was asked by Details Magazine if he had “hooked up” with his former Transformers costar, Shia “nodded affirmatively.” 

He explained: 

“Look, you’re on the set for six months, with someone who’s rooting to be attracted to you, and you’re rooting to be attracted to them. I never understood the separation of work and life in that situation.”

As for whether Megan was in a relationship with her now husband Brian Austin Green during their fling, Shia answered: 

“I don’t know, man. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know . . .”

According to Details, the actor repeated “the phrase exactly 12 times in various intonations, as if trying to get it just right.” He finally responded, “It was what it was.”

From the sounds of it, the actor thinks of his time with Megan as special. He told the publication, “I never understood the separation of work and life in that situation. But the time I spent with Megan was our own thing, and I think you can see the chemistry onscreen.”

As for the other famous women in his life, Shia admits to going on one date with his former Disney peer Hilary Duff, calling it “probably the worst date either of us have ever had.”

“I still love her. I think she’s a [expletive] awesome person and an incredible actress. We’re still pals. I wouldn’t take any of it back, and I don’t think she would either. It just ran its course.”

With a majorly deep v in front that reached almost down to her belly button, Rosie showed the figure that made her famous as a Victoria’s Secret model before her days as a big screen beauty.

The massive Michael Bay-directed third installment titled Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon hits theaters on June 29. The cast has been on a global press whirlwind over the last week, with the official debut of the film at a premiere in Moscow. 

Red or green carpet, this supermodel-turned-actress can’t help but turn heads with her show-stopping physique and style! Rosie Huntington-Whiteley stepped out in Moscow, Russia wearing a super-sheer black skirt and shorts for the premiere of her new action movie Transformers: Dark of the Moon. 

Rosie then paried the skirt with a vibrant yellow-green top complete with a HUGE flower. She also chose some sleek dangling earrings and a pair of strappy heels to pull the intimidatingly awesome ensemble together! Prior to the premiere, the action actress was brightening her male costars’ day with her photocall getup!

The new (or rather downsized) Paramore has released their first post-split single and it’s a “Monster.”

The band had a shake-up when two of its founding members — brothers Josh and Zac Farro — left the band. Could the remaining members (singer Hayley Williams, Taylor York and Jeremy Davis) be sending a message to their former bandmates with the track? Here’s a sampling of the lyrics:

“Now that you’re gone, the world is ours … you call me a traitor … I’m not the villain despite what you’re always preaching.”

Leave it to Michael Bay to make an already death-defying stunt EVEN BIGGER.

The uber-producer was transfixed when he saw a 60 Minutes special that featured pro skier and precision sky diver J.T. Holmes flying high in his “wing suits” — specially designed outfits that turn your average base jumper into a flying squirrel. Natch, his first thought was that he wanted to recruit these band of crazies for Transformers: Dark of the Moon. So he did! 

The crew shut down parts of downtown Chicago so the sky fliers could soar between some of the tallest buildings in the world, including the Sears Tower. All the stunts were live action, without wires or green screen. Watch the video to see the action! 

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is in theaters July 1. 

It’s never too soon after the Christmas movies are released to start thinking about the next great film, especially with a full slate of 2011 films ready to teasing us with laughs, explosions and heartbreak. And lets not forget that more than one highly successful movie franchise is either beginning or ending its final installment in 2011.

Better get your fill when Transformers: Dark of the Moon hits movie theaters next July, because after that the franchise is coming to an end. At least with director Michael Bay behind the camera and Shia LaBeouf in front of it.

During a lengthy interview with Collider, Bay admitted that he’s throwing the towel in with the hugely successful series after the upcoming third installment, opining that  the franchise has run its course in its current format:

“I think this has gotta be it. I think someone else will take the torch from here. … It’s just that I don’t think you could do it again with Shia [LaBeouf] and everybody, I think it’s time to move on.”

Bay also notes his disappointment with last year’s sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, admitting that the film was plagued by several stumbling blocks:

“On the second movie we got burned. We had a writers strike, we had to agree on a story in three weeks, and then we knew they were going on strike. It was a f***ed scenario all the way around; it wasn’t fair to the writer; it wasn’t fair to me; it wasn’t fair to anybody. It was still an entertaining movie, but I think we failed on certain aspects.”

So how did Bay and crew turn things around for Dark of the Moon? According to the helmsman,

“What we did with this movie is I think we have a much better script, and we got back to basics. … It’s more serious. I got rid of the dorky comedy; I mean we’ve got two little characters, that’s it, but the dorkiness is not there. Dork-free Transformers. It’s much more serious. It’s still entertaining; it’s big-looking.”

The filming of Transformers 3 is getting intense, but in between scenes, stars Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have no problem unwinding and kicking back a bit.

During filming on Monday in Washington, D.C., LaBeouf was seen cracking smiles and snagging himself a frosty beverage in between takes, while Rosie made anyone missing Megan Fox reconsider their opinion with a series of very sultry looks.

Despite her recent nuptials to longtime boyfriend Brian Austin Green, it seems that all is not post-marital bliss in Megan Fox‘s life these days.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Fox—who parted ways with the hugely successful Transformers movie franchise in May due to tensions with director Michael Bay—is seething with jealous rage over the attention that her replacement, Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, has been receiving.

It seems that Fox is none too thrilled about the positive press that the British beauty is getting, nor about the plans to push the new Transformers babe big-time with a slew of upcoming magazine cover stories. Says a source close to Fox,

”Megan talks about Rosie all the time—bitching about how ‘that Victoria’s Secret slut’ is getting so much attention.”

Meanwhile, the crew on Transformers 3—which is currently filming—has a very different opinion of their new co-worker: While characterizing Fox as a “diva,” phrases like “a real doll,” “a sweetie” and “a joy to work with” spill from their lips while describing Huntington-Whitely.

Do clothes make the woman? Rosie Huntington-Whiteley‘s wardrobe certainly seems to be doing its best to make it so.

The Victoria’s Secret model turned Transformers babe was out on a lunch date with her beau, Jason Statham, in Los Angeles on Tuesday, wearing a dress with a seemingly magical hemline. One moment it was ankle-length, the next it crawled all the way up above her knees.

Clearly, there’s only one explanation: Rosie’s clothes have become self-aware, and are trying to undress her. Good clothes!

Megan Fox might be totally dunzo with the Transformers movie franchise, but the drama behind the split is the gift that keeps on giving.

New details are emerging about Fox’s claim that she quit the series because of director Michael Bay‘s dictatorial ways. Those who know the actress are coming forward to confirm the claim, in most juicy ways. According to one Fox associate,

“[Megan] would constantly complain about having to go to work, she never wanted to do it. Bay would constantly scream at her. He would scream at everyone, but especially Megan. Imagine a really, really bitchy grandmother on the set, and that’s what Michael Bay is like.”

Another source intimate with the production of the Transformers flicks says Fox once told him,

“All [Bay] wants to do is shoot my *ss and my t*ts, I hate him!’”

Well, it’s difficult to totally fault him on that count; Megan’s said body parts are, pretty indisputably, camera-friendly.

We can only hope that Fox’s reported replacement, former Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, has a thicker skin. And doesn’t mind it being constantly photographed.

Don’t be alarmed by that white smoke billowing out of the Vatican chimney; it’s just an announcement that a replacement for Megan Fox in Transformers 3 has been found.

According to reports, Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been tapped to fill in for Fox, who bailed on the franchise last week due to helmsman Michael Bay‘s reportedly dictatorial directing style.

A quick look into Huntington-Whiteley’s background reveals that she’s 23, attractive, and has zero previous acting credentials. She has, however, dated actors Olivier Martinez and Jason Statham, so that probably puts her on a par with her predecessor.

Previous candidates for the newly opened Transformers role include Clash of the Titans‘ Gemma Arterton, Bar Refaeli, Huntington-Whiteley’s Victoria’s Secret cohort Miranda Kerr, and Brooklyn Decker.

Many questions have been asked since it was announced that Megan Fox wouldn’t be returning to the Transformers franchise for its third installment. But the biggest question is undoubtedly, “What happened?”

According to a new report Fox did, as she claims, voluntarily quit the hugely successful movie series—because director Michael Bay had a habit of being “verbally abusive” toward her.

Fox has made no secret of her distaste for Bay’s hard-nosed directorial style, famously likening him to Hitler at one point. And now a source close to Fox claims that she bailed because “she had enough and wanted to get out early.”

Of course, going into the third installment isn’t particularly “early,” but other reports of Bay’s supposed abrasive attitude toward his talent would seem to back up the claim. Bay reportedly “wasn’t very nice” to his Pearl Harbor star Kate Beckinsale, and Fox’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen co-star Isabel Lucas reportedly ditched the movie’s publicity tour because of her problems with the helmsman. Overall, says one source, Bay is “not well-liked” by female talent.

And, of course, Bay has openly bragged that he made Fox wash his Ferrari while he filmed her as part of her audition for the Transformers role, so maybe there’s some merit to these claims.

In addition, a source close to the production of Transformers claims that Bay puts enormous amounts of pressure on his actresses in the looks department:

“[Bay] wants his actresses to look a certain way, and if they can’t meet his absurd standards of beauty, he gets rid of them.”

All very intriguing—especially the possibility that Fox might, possibly, not meet somebody’s standard of beauty. There’s picky, and then there’s insane…

Sorry, Heidi Montag; you’ve just received some heavy-duty competition in your bid to replace recently ousted hottie Megan Fox in the upcoming Transformers 3.

Since the announcement yesterday that Fox wouldn’t be reprising her role as Mikaela Banes in the third Transformers flick, a number of names have been placed in the running to fill her shoes. So far the front-runner appears to be British Prince of Persia actress Gemma Arterton, also known for portraying Io in this year’s Clash of the Titans and Strawberry Fields in the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace. Arterton has supposedly already entered talks to join the Transformers 3 cast.

Arterton may be out in front of the pack, but there are other beauties hot on her trail. Models Bar Refaeli, Miranda Kerr and Brooklyn Decker are also said to be in contention for the film and, while Decker—who’s currently filming the Jennifer Aniston film Just Go With It—is the only one of the three with any acting experience, any one would go a long way toward maintaining the Transformers franchise’s pretty quotient.

It’s believed that the studio will be abandoning the Mikaela Bane character in favor of creating a new love interest for star Shia LaBeouf‘s Sam Witwicky character.
