The sequel to Will Ferrell‘s beloved newsroom comedy does not even start shooting until 2013, but a brand new teaser trailer has surfaced online featuring Ferrell as Ron Burgundy, along with his Channel 4 news team colleagues, as played by Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell and David Koechner.

Back in March, Ferrell slipped back into his maroon suit and mustache for a special appearance on CONAN. The big reveal was that the beloved Ron Burgundy will be returning for an Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy sequel.

It’s still not confirmed if Ron B’s love interest Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) will be in the sequel, but Christina’s camp tells Celebuzz: “[We'd] love for it to happen. She’d love to be a part of it.”

The rep added that they’re “excited about the prospect.”

The 18-year-old son of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and activist Maria Shriver shared on his Facebook page Tuesday that he was will be attending the University of Southern California beginning Fall 2012. Patrick said: “OFFICIALLY A USC TROJAN!! committed to USC today. cant wait for the next few years. FIGHT ON” Congrats to him!

While we’re sure the newly-minted Trojan will have a blast attending USC tailgates and getting to know the campus he’ll call home for the next four years, there are a number of other stars who consider themselves proud USC alumni.

Will Ferrell, aka Ron Burgundy, confirmed the sequel on CONAN Thursday night, and it was later reported that fellow cast members Paul Rudd and Steve Carell will also be returning as well as the film’s director Adam McKay and producer Judd Apatow. But what about Christina Applegate reprising her role of Veronica Corningstone?

“I know nothing. But am excited about the prospect,” a rep for Christina told Celebuzz in an exclusive statement. “Would love for it to happen, she’d love to be part of it.”

Will Ferrell slipped back into his maroon suit and mustache for a special appearance on Thursday night’s CONAN. Showing off his solo flute skills, San Diego’s favorite newsman had a big announcement to make, but first he had to bust Conan O’Brien‘s chops a bit. 

“You look like someone put a bright red fright wig on a skeleton and chucked it out of a helicopter,” he told the late night host. 

But the big reveal was that the beloved Ron Burgundy will be returning for an Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy sequel.

The Associated Press reports that Will, Paul Rudd and Steve Carell are confirmed to return as well as director Adam McKay and producer Judd Apatow. It’s still not confirmed if Ron B’s love interest Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) will be in the sequel. 

As if you could forget, the first movie was about Ron Burgundy, San Diego’s top rated newsman in the male dominated broadcasting of the 1970′s. However, that all changes when a new female employee (Veronica) arrives in his office.

First up in the battle, we have the action comedy 21 Jump Street starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.  The film version is based on the gritty late 1980′s TV series of the same name that starred a young Johnny Depp! The new version gives the old premise a 21st century comedic kick. Tatum and Hill play a pair of underachieving cops who must go undercover as high school students to bust a drug ring.

On the flip side of the battle, we have Casa de mi Padre,  the latest comedy starring funny man Will Ferrell! This is the hilarious story of two brothers played by Ferrell and Diego Luna who are trying to save their father’s ranch in Mexico.  On their adventure they encounter Mexico’s most feared drug lord played by none other than Gael Garcia Bernal. There is no doubt that the the LOLz will only ensue from there!

One more funny flick of note opening this weekend is Jeff, Who Lives at Home starring Jason Segel.  The film revolves around Jeff, played by Segel, who still lives at home with his mom (Susan Sarandon) at age 30.  Jeff seems to be doomed to a life of slackery until one day he goes with his brother, played by Ed Helms, as he tracks his wife whom he fears is being unfaithful.

According to IMDB, the flick follows two rival South Carolina politicians with presidential aspirations who get into a tangle with one another. We think this is quite appropriate considering we’re totally getting flashbacks of Will’s Saturday Night Live George Bush impressions from these photos.

But Ferrell and Galifianakis aren’t the only comedians who have funny movies up their sleeves! Steve Carell and Jim Carey have both been hard at work filming Burt Wonderstone in Las Vegas.

The event honored Amy for her numerous contributions to comedy, followed by a night of stand-up and sketch comedy performances benefiting the Noreen Fraser Foundation (which focuses on women’s cancer research).

Stand-up acts included T.J. Miller, The League star Nick Kroll, Casey Wilson, Happy Endings starand Sarah Silverman. As the night came to a close, SNL and Up All Night actress and comedian Maya Rudolph spoke some wise words of congratulations by telling the crowd:

“Tonight, I would like to sing a song for you, a beautiful song, by the always tasteful and utterly brilliant lyricist Mr. R. Kelly, and it is entitled ‘Sex in the Kitchen.’ You’re welcome.”

She proceeded to sing the dramatic song for the audience.

The hilarious, comedy filled night ended with comedic superstar Will Ferrell presenting the honor to the woman of the evening. Amy came up to accept the honor by giving an exuberantly comical and entertaining speech. Picking out her favorite quotes of the night, she went on to say:

“This has been my kind of night; everything’s kind of hard to hear, everything’s a bit sloppy, the ceiling is too high but everyone’s heart is in the right place…it is an honor to be honored.

To all the wonderful people who did a video tonight, thanks but no thanks. I know how easy it is to do a video. Videos are easy. You can’t drag your ass down here to shake my hand in person, you’re dead to me.  So I don’t care about your words and I don’t care about you.

The Variety Power of Comedy award has a very long and prestigious history dating back to 2009. I am the first woman to win. Yes it is about time! Ladies we are really breaking barriers tonight!”

Also in attendance was Amy’s husband Will Arnett, Whitney star Whitney Cummings, Parks and Recs costars Aubrey Plaza and Adam Scott, plus David Henrie, Gene Simmons, Sarah Colonna, and many more celebs who had nothing but kind words to say about Amy.

“Can I just stop you real quick and just say what a wonderful atmosphere you have here,” Will said of the show. “It’s a great set, it’s a great vibe and incredible spread.” The two comedians get a bit intimate when fruit is thrown into the mix. As they begin to eat an assortment of berries, Zach decides to share a strawberry with Will … while it’s in his mouth. 

But the shenanigans don’t stop there! Another familiar face shows up on the show!

Mad Men star and Bridesmaids boyfriend Jon Hamm walks onto set claiming that he forgot his keys! Jon appeared on a previous episode of Between Two Ferns a while ago and when inquiring about his keys, Zach responded, “That was like two and a half years ago.” Jon later finds his keys in one of the ferns. 

When he’s not hosting an Internet show, Zach has been promoting his highly anticipated comedic sequel The Hangover II that comes out today, May 26. However, the men of the movie were overshadowed at the Los Angeles premiere of their film when Crystal the monkey showed up on the scene! Check out the pics below!

Throughout the process Will referred to his clippers as the “Excali-beard” and said it was “not battery powered, but runs off of sheer righteousness.” He asked his Excali-beard, “Are you ready to join me in this noble quest?” Once he started shaving, the funnyman exclaimed, “I am rock hard right now!”

That film cost $100 million to make but only returned $69 million at the global box office. On average, for every $1 Ferrell was paid last year, his films returned only $3.35. Ferrell fans should fear not, however, as the SNL alum’s moderate hit The Other Guys returned $160 million on a $100 million budget, which is more than enough to ensure the A-lister will maintain his status. It was not counted in this year’s tally, like all films released after June 1. Since 2005, the actor has reportedly averaged $20 million per film.

By comparison, Eddie Murphy owes his #2 position to the public’s grim reception of Meet Dave and Imagine That, the latter of which only sold $22 million in tickets globally. His only saving grace is a big one, the tremendously successful Shrek series. 

Comedians account for six of the top ten most overpaid actors, with the reasoning being that comedies do not translate well in overseas markets. Ferrell’s The Other Guys raised $119 million in the states, similar to Angelina Jolie‘s film Salt, which made $118 million domestically. The difference? $41 million and $173 million abroad, respectively.

Wahlberg and Ferrell co-star in the new film The Other Guys as a pair of disgraced New York City cops desperate to restore their reputations and step into the upper ranks of the police force.

The Other Guys is in theaters today.

The duo, along with Funny or Die’s Gary Sanchez, are putting together a show based on the super-duper-amazingly-fun-times memoir, I Don’t Care About Your Band, by New York comedian Julie Klausner.

The book, which came out earlier this year, follows the author’s search for love from her childhood days through her 20s. Sure, it may sound similar to every female-oriented book out there, but it is actually refreshingly funny and sharp with (thankfully) few references to shoes and cupcakes.

Lizzy, who just wrapped up her role on the cult comedy hit (and Emmy-snubbed) Party Down, is expected to star in the series as well as produce. Aside from Mean Girls and Party Down, you may recognize Lizzy from her role True Blood.
