Hey Zach Braff: it’s time to make your movie now.

Three days after the actor launched a Veronica Mars movie-style Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for his next project Wish I Was Here, the goal of $2 million has been reached.

The amount raised so far, as of Saturday, Apr. 27 at 4:45 p.m. EST is $2,023,436 — and counting. Oh, and he’s still got 26 days to go.

“28,000 Financiers in 3 days! Un-f-cking I will not let you down. Let’s go make a killer movie!” Braff, 38, wrote on Twitter.

The former Scrubs star also took to Facebook to post a video with the caption, “This is how you’ve made me feel.” (It’s just him bopping his head to “The Lonely Goatherd” from The Sound of Music).

Wish I Was Here, co-written by and starring Braff, will be his follow-up to the 2004 gem Garden State.

Did you donate to Zach Braff’s movie? Are you looking forward to the film? 

Zach Braff is a very famous movie and TV star who has a lot more money than any of us. He also wants us to pay for his new movie. Braff launched a Kickstarter campaign today to get a film he wrote and plans to star in, called Wish I Was Here, funded. Wish I Was Here is a sorta-sequel to Braff’s 2004 film Garden State, in that while Garden State chronicles the white whines on a single man in his 20s, Wish I Was Here chronicles the white whines of a married man in his 30s.

Braff says he got the idea to ask for the $2 million to shoot the movie after a similar Kickstarter to fund a Veronica Mars movie raised $5 million. Now, much hubbub has been raised over the seeming rise in popularity of funding movies on Kickstarter and after the Veronica Mars page was posted, Richard Lawson of The Atlantic Wire offered his opinion:

Most of these campaigns aren’t people who need the money, they’re people who just want it. The same could be said for lots of actual charities, sure — if you boil the word “need” down enough, nothing but food, water, and air is left. But here in the bourgie, comfy confines of wealthy Western society, we’re talking about people like the indie musician Amanda Palmer, who raised $1.2 million on Kickstarter to make and distribute a folk album. That’s all. Amanda Palmer, who is married to successful author Neil Gaiman and has been a prominent musician for a decade or so. Handed $1.2 million because she asked for it. People are free to spend their money however they want, but there’s something so unseemly about the asking, isn’t there?

And he’s right, when you bring up starving children, it’s hard to really justify spending money on anything. But there is something particularly awful about professionals who have already risen to the near top of their field asking for handouts as if they can’t get work any other way.

The Veronica Mars movie was one thing, but Zach Braff’s is something completely different. Mars was a little-watched, but much-beloved show that aired on UPN/The CW. While it has rabid fans, no studio was going to fund the movie, especially almost six years after the show’s finale. So if the show’s fans want to donate their spare change in the hopes that a movie will get made and released and be good, that’s their right. However, Braff’s movie already had a backer and he was about to sign a financing deal when he pulled out in order to maintain creative control. What he’s saying is that he wants to shoot a vanity project, in which he controls every aspect and then he wants you to pay for it. Braff wants you to produce his new movie, but you won’t see any part of the profits.

But isn’t that the beauty of capitalism? If you want to spend $20 to help Zach Braff make his movie about a 30-something actor prone to hallucinatory daydreams, then go ahead. Just know that you’ll be spending the same $13 dollars on a ticket to see the thing when it comes out that I will.

As the March release of Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful draws near, anticipation over the details of the Sam Raimi film continues to build.

Seeing how the film boasts quite the number of A-list celebs in his cast, Celebuzz is breaking down the key characters who make up this re-imaged world.

Donald Faison and longtime love Cacee Cobb have tied the knot!

The couple, who have been engaged for 16 months, finally said “I Do” on Saturday at the home of Faison’s Scrubs co-star and real life BFF Zach Braff, who was one of two groomsmen.

The bride’s BFF and former boss Jessica Simpson served as bridesmaid.

The star-studded affair was also attended by Simpson’s fiancé, Eric Johnson, Ashlee Simpson, Joe Simpson, Seth Green, musician Joshua Radin and Breckin Meyer.

“Knots tied. No, I did not run around them with sparklers @donald_faison @caceecobb,” Braff wrote on Twitter Saturday night.

Simpson, who is rumored to be pregnant with her second child, looked stunning in a black dress, complete with a bouquet of red roses.

According to E! News, Faison, 38 and Cobb, 35, said “I Do” in front of 75 friends and family members. The 20-minute ceremony took place under a tent with white lights and a gospel choir.

Celebrities are flocking to Charlotte, N.C., in a bid of support for this week’s Democratic National Convention.

But President Barack Obama‘s typical big-name backers — such as George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey and Matt Damon — are notably absent this year. But many stars are still rallying behind their party, pushing for Obama to win four more years in the White House.

Of course, Eva Longoria, a co-chair of the president’s reeelction campaign, is among the celebrities making the rounds. As is Kal Penn, the “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle” actor who used to work in the White House Office of Public Engagement. He addressed the crowd in a comedic speech on Tuesday.

So instead of the other usual suspects, who else in Hollywood is showing their political persuasions?

For his live-streaming coverage of the event for BarackObama.com, Penn was joined by a few big-screen stars, such as Elizabeth Banks and Olivia Wilde.

Some were tapped for appearances — Glee‘s Amber Riley performed Tuesday and the Foo Fighters, James Taylor, Marc Anthony and others took the stage on Thursday. Meanwhile, others were just in attendance to soak up the pro-Obama atmosphere, like Rosario Dawson, Zach Braff and John Leguizamo. And Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren are in town to host a closing party.

But are there still some surprise appearances on the horizon as the convention nears its close? CNN reports that Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Kerry Washington are expected to speak Thursday night.
