For a number of celebs, 2012 is shaping up to be the year for the Lonely Hearts Club.

The past few months have been tough romantically for many of Hollywood’s power players, with a slew of shocking splits.

Back in January, Project Runway host Heidi Klum, 38, stunned everyone when she announced that she and husband Seal, 48, were separating after seven years of marriage. She eventually filed for divorce in early April.

Just a few weeks ago, it was reported that Modern Family hottie Sofia Vergara, 39, broke off her relationship with longtime boyfriend Nick Loeb.

But the list doesn’t stop there!

Last month, Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice judge Adam Levine split from Victoria’s Secret model Anne Vyalitsyna, 26, after two years of dating. Psychologist and relationship expert Dr. Michelle Golland shared with Celebuzz who she thought the rocker should date, saying, “Amanda Seyfried could be a good love match. Given his past, he likes beautiful blondes. Amanda, 26, is smart, savvy and successful in her career, and her strong personality coupled with her outgoing nature would be a good match to his more introverted personality.”

Another shocking split came when Demi Moore, 49, and husband, Two and a Half Men star Ashton Kutcher, 34, abruptly announced that they were ending their six year marriage. There were rumors that Ashton may have cheated on Demi during their marriage.

Dr. Gulland also shared her opinion on Demi saying, “Divorce is a trauma situation…It can be a breaking point.” Earlier this year, Demi checked into rehab after a voice recording surfaced that she had passed out, which was reportedly due to substance abuse.

Zooey Deschanel to Play Country Singer Loretta Lynn in New Broadway Musical

She plays a new girl on TV. Now, Zooey Deschanel is about to be the newest girl on Broadway!

The star of FOX’s hit series New Girl will join the Great White Way in the upcoming staging of Coal Miner’s Daughter, in which she will play country singer Loretta Lynn.

The news was confirmed last night at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN where Loretta brought Zooey out for a special performance.

What did Zooey have to say about the casting?

In a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter), the 77-year-old singer praised the casting, saying:

“It’s a long way from Butcher Holler to Broadway in New York City. I never imagined I’d see Coal Miner’s Daughter on a movie screen, and now I can’t believe it’s going to be on a stage for people to see. I’m going to be right there in the front row. And I know Zooey is going to be great – she sings and writes her own songs just like I do, and we even have the same color eyes!”

“Loretta Lynn and her music have been inspirations for me for as long as I can remember,” added Deschanel, who has sang in movies, television and on studio albums with M. Ward. “She is a true legend and to be chosen to play such an iconic woman is a dream come true.”

No date has been set for the musical, though reports indicate that it will not conflict with filming of New Girl, which was recently renewed by FOX for a second season.

In the meantime, Zooey has pretty big shoes to fill. In addition to playing Loretta live on Broadway, she’ll have to live up to Sissy Spacek‘s iconic performance in the 1980 movie of the same name, for which she received a Best Actress Oscar.

Zooey Deschanel Dishes on Dating: ‘I’m Going Through a Divorce, I Don’t Have Time’

With the first season of her show New Girl helmed as a huge hit, Zooey Deschanel is having a tremendous year professionally, and seems to be keeping her head in her work instead of her personal life.

The actress opened up to Marie Claire magazine about everything from her love life (or lack thereof) to her thoughts on having a family to being bullied as a child.

Earlier this year, Zooey, 32, split from husband Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie, and she told the publication that she doesn’t intend on dating anytime soon

“Honestly, I’m just going through a divorce, so I don’t really think that’s something I want to get into now. I don’t have time to date. I literally – don’t-have-time.”

With such a busy schedule, it’s easy to understand how dating would be on the back burner, but does Zooey see any children in her future? “That’s never been my focus. My sister [Emily Deschanel] was always very motherly, babysitting and stuff. I like kids, and I like being around kids – but it was never an ambition, something, like, I need…I like working. That’s what I like doing. I like to work.”

It’s hard to belive that the lovable Deschanel was ever bullied but as a child but she tells the mag it’s in fact true as she was once overweight: “I still have in me the same awareness when I was 12 and chubby and a girl was spitting in my face. I’m the same person. Certainly you change, and you change perspective, you have other experiences. But isn’t it funny – I can still remember when I was treated differently from the way I’m treated now.”

Hollywood’s biggest stars may boast a healthy paycheck, but that doesn’t keep them from living an average lifestyle. From Rihanna to Smash star Katharine McPhee, celebs have eluded taking a cab or a limo to commute in favor of hitting up the subway.

Kat McPhee recently told SELF magazine about her little subway experience, saying:

“I went the wrong way on the subway, and when I asked for directions, the person in the booth was mean to me. So I ended up crying and in a cab anyway. Now the show sends a van for me.”

We’re loving Zooey Deschanel‘s Scottish style! The New Girl hit the 2012 Writer’s Guild Awards red carpet over the weekend in Los Angeles, Calif. wearing an adorable (and super comfy looking) vintage gown by Shareen that she accented with a satin bow.

The quirky actress pulled off the look flawlessly, choosing to keep her brunette hair down and her bangs ever-so-slightly curled. We’re a big fan of Zooey’s plaid style, but what do you think? Is she pulling it off?

Zooey, 32, hosted the WGAs with Community star Joel McHale at the awards ceremony and joked while on stage (via London Daily Mail), saying, “Welcome to Nerd Prom. Male writers, you are so hot with your minds and plaid shirts. Hit on me.”

Though her character on New Girl is single, we can’t imagine a better way for Zooey Deschanel’s Jess to spend Valentine’s Day than by making out with Ryan Kwanten.

Well, that’s exactly what happens on an upcoming episode of the series, in which Jess, single for the first time, has an “attachment-free” fling with the True Blood hunk. Attachment or no attachment, we highly support this.

In the meantime, Jess also has more men to look forward to in her future: According to reports, actor Dermot Mulroney will play her love interest in an upcoming arc. Color us very, very jealous.

Quirky Style Showdown: ‘Glee’ Character Rachel Berry vs. Zooey Deschanel (PHOTOS)

If Lea Michele‘s Glee character Rachel Berry walked the red carpet, we think there’d be some style crossovers between her and New Girl star Zooey Deschanel.

Zooey and the character of Rachel have such similar fashion statements that one may wonder if the 500 Days of Summer star has a side job of styling the Glee cast. From knee-highs and tights to headbands and bows, these two have mastered the quirky-preppy style.

So throw on some argyle, polka dots and/or stripes, and check out our style showdown between Rachel Berry and the real-life fashionista Zooey. Who do you think dons this look best: Rachel or Zooey? Cast your vote in the poll and play fashion critic to these quirky characters in the comments!

Zooey, 31, recently commented on her trademark style, admitting to Allure magazine’s February issue: “I’m bangs and eyes. It’s who I am. There have been periods when I’ve grown my bangs out, but I always cut them back, so it’s like, why go through the trouble?”

So how can you snag Rachel and/or Zooey’s look? It’s probably one of the easier styles to obtain. Here’s some key pieces we would suggest:

Cardigan- This is a key piece to achieve a preppy look, and an affordable one as well. If you’re really thrifty, you can spot a cardigan for under $25 like this one from Forever 21. Though this one is floral and very Rachel-esque, solid colors are probably best if you’re looking to mix and match.
Tights and/or knee-high socks – Zooey rarely dons the red carpet without a pair of tights and Rachel Berry wouldn’t dare pair her school skirts and oxfords with anything but tights or knee-high socks.
Headbands- Simple headbands can dress up an outfit instantly and can be found at most drug stores. (note, Rachel wrote a song on Glee titled “My Headband”)

Bows- Any sort of bow you can find will transform your style into a flirtier number. Whether it be on a belt, blouse or headband, bows are a must to master this look. This bow-baring Urban Outfitters sweater is so their style!
Miniskirt- A solid miniskirt paired with black opaque tights is probably the trademark look of both Rachel and Zooey.

Ryan Kwanten Teases ‘New Girl’ Episode: Is He Really Zooey Deschanel’s Dream Guy?

True Blood hunk Ryan Kwanten is heading to New Girl while on hiatus from his hit HBO show! The Australian actor was hanging at the Bertolli Meal Soup Chalet hosted by Gen Art in Park City and in between watching some NFL playoff games, stopping by the Solstice Sunglass Boutique and hanging with Laura Prepon, he told Celebuzz how excited he was for fans to see him head to Fox for a bit.

“It’s the Valentine’s Day episode and I’m Zooey Deschanel‘s dream guy–well supposedly,” Ryan said with a smile. “He’s the guy on an internet dating site that would have all the great boxes checked and seem perfect…but lets just say she speculates that a little bit too much!”

Ladies–for the record, Kwanten also told us internet dating is not for him. “I’m bad enough as it is,” he said laughing.

Back to his time on set, he sang Zooey’s praises:

“She is such a sweetheart. I hadn’t met her before the show, but I am even more of a fan than I was before. She really is wonderful.”

So could this guest stint lead to an even bigger role?

“I don’t know! I would love to come back though,” Ryan said. “I guess we’ll see how it plays, but if they would want me back I would treat it as an honor.”

Thankfully for us True Blood fans though Ryan gets back to work on the show soon, but was tight lipped about what’s in store for season 4.

“You are going to get me in trouble, I can’t tell you anything!”

He did tell us he was “excited” to see all his cast mates. His True Blood costar Joe Manganiello has a little movie coming out this summer called Magic Mike and if you read Celebuzz then we hope you guys have heard of it. Still, Ryan looked a bit shocked when we filled him in on what Joe’s been doing during hiatus!

“A male stripping movie! Wow that is great, I could see Joe doing quite well. I’ll for sure see it! Hey why not, right?”

Zooey Deschanel Films ‘New Girl’ With On-Screen Love Interest Dermot Mulroney (PHOTOS)

There’s a new guy in town for New Girl star Zooey Deschanel, and we have, uh, new pics of them filming a scene together in Los Angeles.

The man in question is 48-year-old actor Dermot Mulroney, who according to TV Line plays Russell, a “handsome, intelligent and wealthy gentleman who also happens to be the father of one of Jess’ [Deschanel] students.” In this scene, Jess’ car breaks down, and, naturally, Russell comes to her rescue. The quirky actress is wearing a bold pair of Chromatic Gallerie red pumps in the ‘lipsticky situation’ hue in this scene.

New Girl has been one of the few breakout hits of the new season. It was recently up for two Golden Globes, including Best Comedy Series and Best Actress in a Comedy Series (Deschanel).

Meanwhile, though Jess’ love life appears to be heating up, the same cannot be said of Zooey’s. The actress recently filed for divorce from her husband, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard, after separating on Halloween.

Zooey Deschanel Talks of Getting Bullied In School: ‘Girls Spit In My Face’

Newly single Zooey Deschanel just glammed up the Golden Globe red carpet on Sunday, and now she’s gracing the latest cover of Allure magazine , and showing off her trademark bold blue eyes and fierce red lips!

This New Girl star — whose turns 31 today! — looks cuter and quirkier than ever on the cover, and opens up about how she is perceived by the media and recalls her childhood years when she wasn’t known as the “it” girl in Hollywood.

“They keep calling me an ‘it’ girl, and at this point it makes me laugh, because I’ve done that so many times: ‘You’re it’; ‘you’re not it’. What is ‘it’? Because I have brown hair and a low voice, I would get cast as dry, sarcastic, ironic people, which I can do, but it’s just not my sense of humor. I’m a very positive person. I get excited easily, and I like to jump around.”

The 500 Days of Summer star added, “I’ve always straddled a weird line—there’s a lot of mainstream stuff that I love. At the same time, I still feel like an outsider. I’m the outsider who’s on the inside.”

Can you believe this adorable starlet was bullied in school? “Girls spit in my face, people were so mean to me, I’d cry every day.” Zooey admitted.

Even now, she’s even scrutinized for her hairstyle, one she’s kept since becoming a big star and indie darling. “I’m bangs and eye. It’s who I am. There have been periods when I’ve grown my bangs out, but I always cut them back, so it’s like, why go through the trouble?”

Despite her Golden Globe nomination and hit FOX show, not everything has been perfect for the actress over the past few months. Zooey separated from Death Cab for Cutie lead singer Ben Gibbard this past November, only to file for divorce in early 2012 for irreconcilable differences.
