Never mind the Rosetta Stone: The real mystery of the ages—at least since Nicole Kidman gave birth to her daughter—has been, "What's up with the kid's name? Sunday Rose? Really?"
Luckily, Nicole's father, Dr. Anthony Kidman, has answers. The new grandpa tells Australian newspaper the Daily Telegraph that the name was inspired by Sunday Reed, a "key mover and shaker in the arts around the beginning of the century" in Australia.
The muse of artist Sidney Nolan, Reed was apparently as well known for her controversial private life as she was for her role in the arts. She and her husband, John, reportedly had a menage a trois with Nolan for nine years, and Sunday was allegedly known for having several other affairs. The party train came to a halt when she took her own life in 1981, ten days after the death of her husband.
Hmm; wonder how Nicole's daughter will feel when she learns that she was dubbed after a suicidal chick who slept around a lot. She's probably gonna need a lot of John Galway music to soothe her nerves when that bombshell drops on her.
