Though she sang the national anthem at the Democracratic National Convention in August, Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson won't be offering a repeat performance at President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration on January 20.
MSNBC notes that Jennifer's rep has refuted claims by the New York Post that Hudson, 27, is in talks to belt out "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the all-star swearing-in ceremony.
In fact, the Grammy-nominated American Idol alum was set to shoot a video for her next single, "If This Isn't Love," in mid-December. But Jennifer's work plans were put on hold in light of the singer still mourning the October shooting deaths of her mother, brother and nephew.
A source told Us in December, "The video was set up before the tragedy and [Jennifer] felt like she should finish what she started, but she's realized that she's not ready to go back to work. It's too early."
One singer who will help usher Obama into the White House is Rihanna. The 19-year-old "Take a Bow" diva is set to perform at the Recording Industry Association of America's Presidential Inauguration Charity Ball.
Time will tell whether Hudson makes it to her scheduled February 6 performance at the MusiCares Person of the Year benefit, which will honor Neil Diamond.
Anyone familiar with Hudson's bumpy road to stardom knows that strength of character is not the issue.
