Paris Hilton Arrested on Cocaine Charges
Paris Hilton found herself in handcuffs on Friday night, as the hotel heiress was arrested on cocaine possession charges in Las Vegas.
ABC News reports that Hilton was booked in the wee hours of Saturday morning by Las Vegas police, who later released the 29-year-old star. LVPD spokesman Marcus Martin told ABC that Hilton was a passenger in the car of Cy Waits -- her boyfriend who is also a Las Vegas club mogul. Police initially stopped the car because a suspicious smoke was seen coming from it,
"Officers noticed a vehicle leaving smoke trail of a controlled substance (and) made a stop based on that."
Once Hilton's vehicle was stopped, officers found a white powder on Hilton that later tested positive for cocaine. TMZ is reporting that Waits was also arrested on DUI charges.
This continues a wild and troubled summer for Hilton. Just this week, she awoke to a knife-wielding stranger outside of her apartment, prompting the police to arrest the man. Months earlier, Hilton was questioned in South Africa during the World Cup on marijuana suspicion, but no charges were ever filed. Weeks later, she was held by police at a French airport after less than a gram of marijuana was found in her belongings. She was released without any charges being filed against her.
Hilton served 23 days in jail in 2007 after pleading no contest to an alcohol-based reckless driving charge.
