Us reports that sources close to Paris Hilton, 27, and Good Charlotte's Benji Madden, 29, claim their recent split occurred because Madden was "too controlling."

"Benji was overprotective and controlling. He doesn't get along with any of her friends," one source says. "Friends thought Paris had changed since being with Benji and she wants to be herself again."

Seeing as "her friends" might mean those reality show competitors vying for her friendship, who can blame him?

Does "being herself" mean flirting heavily and on film with ex-boyfriends?

However, sources say that despite the all-natural Paris' inpromptu and lusty photoshoot with ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos III in Miami last weekend, both Paris and Benji remained faithful.

"Nothing went on between Paris and Stav in Miami," the source says. "She was there for a girls weekend with her BFFs. Benji really respected her. They will be friends forever."
