Pretend singer Paula Abdul better stock up on pills. She’s going to have a lot more stress in her life. American Idol is adding songwriter Kara DioGuardi as a fourth judge next season, according to Us.

“We are turning the heat up on Idol this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges’ table,” show creator Simon Fuller said.

DioGuardi will be jostling for room at the judge’s table for the show’s eighth season, which premieres in January.

DioGuardi has worked with artists such as Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Pink, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey.

An Idol producer states that the show had always meant to have four judges.

Watch for Paula adding way more vodka to her Coke cup during this next season. She doesn’t need this pressure!
