Is Paula Abdul Planning to Exit 'Idol'?

Has the arrival of fourth judge Kara DioGuardi on the American Idol set left Paula Abdul feeling a bit like an outsider?

The recent events involving a woman who auditioned for the show being found dead outside Abdul's house certainly can't have the 45-year-old "Opposites Attract" singer feeling easy.

Fox's Idol returns for its eighth season in January. But OK! is hinting that it could just be the last time you'll see Abdul imparting her wisdom to the series' hopeful young contestants.

"Paula is developing new TV projects and is hoping to 'transition' out of the Fox hit," the magazine reports.

A separate source adds, “She knows that every season could be her last. Now she’s got a new secret venture that she’s really excited about.”

Prior to American Idol, Abdul was a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Lakers and a music video choreographer.

She became a pop star in her own rite in the late '80s/early '90s, racking up a series of chart-topping singles, including "Forever Your Girl," "Rush, Rush" and "Straight Up."

Will Paula be heading straight out, then, to pursue success in another career path soon?
