Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell Nearly "Duked It Out" Over Matt Giraud
Last Night's American Idol offered a compelling moment in television, when the judges used their one-time power to salvage contestant Matt Giraud from voter rejection.
But it also robbed the world of an even more compelling moment: The sight of AI judges Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell pummelling each other over the decision.
On Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show this morning, Abdul admitted that the two almost came to blows when determining Giraud's fate.
"For a minute there, I thought we were going to have to duke it out," Abdul noted, adding that Cowell had "trepidation" over saving Giraud's hide after voters opted to boot him.
"Simon was pulling my dress to make me sit down" while Giraud belted out his version of Bryan Adams' "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman," Abdul notes. "I said, 'No way! What's your problem?'"
That's a brave move, asking Simon Cowell what his problem is. A team of NASA engineers could probably spend a decade figuring out the answer to that question.
