Pete Wentz was out shopping at Costume National in West Hollywood when he took a tumble in full view of the paparazzi.

This is what happens when you've got sunglasses on, a Winehouse-esque fringe in your face, and you try to walk down stairs.

Maybe Pete was buying a gift to cheer up his buddy John Mayer, who recently went through the grueling experience of dumping Jennifer Aniston via text message. Poor guy.

Or was Pete just playing around with the cameramen? After all, he had a "no TMZ" symbol written in the dirt on the back windshield of his car.
