The Philippines Will Get a Whole New ‘Twilight’
Move over Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart; there’s a new Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in town!
No, there aren’t more cast shake-ups going on with the breakout-hit Twilight series. Rather, the teen vampire novel has been adapted for a television movie to be aired in the Philippines, separate from the box-office smash currently in movie theaters around the globe.
The website Yehey reports that Filipino actors Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao, both 19, will star as Edward and Bella in the locally-televised version, to be broadcast on ABS-CBN.
The network and co-producer Ignite Media purchased the rights to Twilight for more than $1 million, with taping to begin in February.
With that kind of cash to throw around, here’s hoping the Filipino adaptation ends up standing on its own against other hits to come out of the country—such as last year’s viral prison-yard phenomenon, “Thriller”:

Its doomsday when you see Eric Yorkie’s (one of Bella’s friends, “La Push, Baby†if you have seen the movie) character portrayed by a gay comedian. (In Filipino remakes, there’s always that what they call as Pinoy Twist and that includes jeepneys, gay, comedians among other things)
I watch Philippine TV local channels and the shows are getting worst. The line up are mostly remakes, pulling the names of the original down–

ABS CBN SUCKS! They are so damn loser that they’ll do everything to earn money. They’ll ruin everything. Right now Twilight is so popular that they have to hitch to it’s fame. The cast, Rayver and Shaina are lunatics to agree with it. I never been so outrage like this. The love I have for the novel and the movie itself can’t be replaced by this moronic, absurd move. A lof of fans all over the world are so mad. I’m a Filipino but this thing that this sank network’s moronic move makes me don’t want to be a Filipino anymore.
ABS CBN, Have some respect to other’s people view, I know you don’t have some left with you anymore but please, respsect the original version, the cast and crew, Stephenie Meyer (who knows, you’ll just twist the entire stories, just like what you do on all your shows) and specially have some respect to the fans.

the twilight movie was crap to begin with. they ruined the book. bella sucked a**, and edward looked like a retard who couldn’t even remember his lines. so the philipino version can’t get any worse than the american version. twilight sucked a**, the movie ruined the book and everything there was to the book.

I know there are some stories out there that has originality why take a risk n those stories…uhm Culture Crash why can’t they use those kinds of stories…I know it’s not Bella and Edward- Twilight style but at LEAST the stories in Culture Crash are good…wonder what happen to them.
