BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA: Helen Mirren, 'Hitchcock'

  • BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA: Helen Mirren, 'Hitchcock'
If anybody on this list has a chance of de-throning Chastain as this year’s Most Likely to Succeed, it’s the ever-charming Helen Mirren. Starring alongside Anthony Hopkins in the roll of Alma Hitchcock – wife and muse to the legendary director Alfred Hitchcock – Mirren gives a wonderful performance as an aging red-head whose husband famously had a thing for younger blondes. Their turbulent marriage was also the focus of HBO’s 'The Girl' in which Hitch was played by the outstanding Toby Jones. Given the timeliness of the subject and the pedigree of Hitchcock himself – not to mention Mirren’s terrific performance – a victory could potentially be in the cards. Chances of winning: Entirely Possible
