Skyfall

  • Skyfall
After 50 years and 23 films, Skyfall is arguably the first Bond movie to leave audiences talking about the drama as much as they are the action. Daniel Craig's third outing as 007 finds Bond fighting against himself as much as he is the physical threats around him.Presumed dead and addicted to painkillers, Bond must literally go back to his roots to find a way to move forward. That's just one of many ways Skyfall explores and reinforces its theme of "new guard vs. old", in between rooftop motorcycle chases and Javier Bardem's inspired turn as the sinister Silva.Director Sam Mendes delivers the type of emotional stakes one would expect to find in his more "serious" fare. Wisely, the director saw no distinction between Bond films and "regular" ones; he just set out to tell a good story and, in the process, make a great film.
