BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA: Daniel Day-Lewis in 'Lincoln'
The only thing more surprising than Lewis’ transformation into Lincoln is the fact that the Method actor turned down the role. Several times. The acting here is so good, so invisible, that we can’t imagine anyone else in the part. It’s a good thing director Steven Spielberg was able to convince Lewis to sign on; the world of filmmaking is a better place for it. It’s either Lewis or Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook) for all the awards gold. Chances of winning: Very, very good.
