BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA: Joaquin Phoenix in 'The Master'
While awards buzz has virtually gone silent for 'The Master', it's been heating up for its leading man. Phoenix's turn as Freddie Sutton, a fallen WWII sailor who falls in with a cult, blurs the line between performance and real person. Hands down, the best performance of the anti-Hollywood actor's career. But Phoenix might be too anti-Hollywood for the Globes. Chances of winning: Outlook's fuzzy, but promising.
