A couple years ago, the Walk the Line star began showing up on talk shows sporting a shaggy beard and sounding incoherent, mumbling plans about giving up acting to become a rapper. Turns out the whole meltdown was an act, a two-year piece of performance art chronicled in the documentary I'm Still Here. But was he? Who'd take him seriously as an actor or co-worker after that? Fortunately, his strong performance in this fall's The Master is earning enough Oscar buzz that his years spent punking everyone have been all but forgotten.
