In Finding Nemo, Dory tags along with the anything-but-funny clown fish, Marlin, on his journey to rescue his missing son, Nemo. But Dory’s attention span sometimes has him regretting choosing her as his companion. As it turns out, her recollection problems are in reference to the myth that fish only have a three second memory. Only getting Nemo’s name right seven times throughout the entire film—referring to him otherwise as Chico, Fabio, Bingo, Harpo, and Elmo—she sure makes that myth come alive! Dory is also the first role ever written specifically for Ellen DeGeneres, who plays the voice of the forgetful fish.
