Five Flicks in Five Clicks: January 11, 2013
Synopsis: Writer/director Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) is back with yet another machismo-filled, cool-as-hell crime film. This time, however, McQuarrie applies his gritty sensibility to a more mainstream adventure, the kind of film designed for the Jason Bourne-esque, [INSERT HERO’S NAME HERE] style of franchise. Tom Cruise offers a less black-and-white character than usual, earning high marks for a film that nicely tows the line between legitimate crime film and bubblegum pulp. In many ways, Jack Reacher is the perfect 90’s film more than a decade too late.
