Happy Birthday, Ellen!
Thankfully for us, Ellen brought her talents back to television in September 2003 with her newly launched daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show. In the show’s first season alone, it earned four Daytime Emmy Awards, including Best Talk Show, and by the time season three came around, the hit talk show proudly held 25 Emmy Awards to its name. So what makes the show so special? Well, besides Ellen’s infamous dances in the crowd and free trips and prizes, the host also knows how to surprise audiences and celebrity guests alike—Ellen loves a good prank or scare! In 2007, DeGeneres was put on bed rest after she tore a ligament in her back, but the show still had to go on! In true Ellen fashion, she continued to host the show from her hospital bed and had all her guest stars sit in hospital beds, too.
