Howard’s raunchy, outrageous, and seemingly indecent muses finally cost him in April 2004 when the FCC began cracking down on radio broadcasters. After a detailed discussion about anal sex with Rick Salomon, the co-star of Paris Hilton’s infamous sex tape, and after allowing a caller to use the N-word on-air, Clear Channel Radio, the company that carried his show, gave Stern the boot. But there was no need to fret --  in October, Stern announced that was officially leaving traditional radio for Sirius Satellite Radio, a world with no FCC regulations.
