48 Hrs. (1982)
Bullet to the Head director Walter Hill famously directed this 1980’s team-up between Nick Nolte and a shockingly restrained Eddie Murphy. Down-playing the SNL vet’s comedic side, the film allowed Murphy to show some acting chops as he made a suitably laid-back partner for the grittier Nolte. Sporting the quintessential 80’s synth soundtrack – beaten only the score to Chevy Chase’s Fletch – 48 Hours still holds up as a great, if somewhat dated, action romp.
