Ephemerol – Scanners (1981)
David Cronenberg movies are basically a drug to themselves, but few are as a trippy as Scanners. In that film, however, there’s a literal drug called Ephemerol, revealed to have been tested on expectant mothers as a treatment for morning sickness. The only side effect was that their children grew up to have psychic, head-exploding powers of telepathy. That’s a win-win in our book.
