Julie Andrews' sweet sound captivated the world in 'The Sound of Music.' But in 1997, after a lifetime of singing took a toll on her voice, Andrews had throat surgery to remove non-cancerous growths. But the botched procedure left her pipes permanently damaged. "It was not a successful operation, and tissue was removed," she told Oprah Winfrey. "So, sadly, I had to work to deal with the loss of a voice because it didn't come back."
