Zac Efron: Who Should Play Finnick Odair in 'Catching Fire'?
Back in March, it was rumored that Zac Efron might possibly be in talks to play the tortured yet handsome character. He's certainly got the looks, and at 24 he is in the right age range to pull off playing Finnick.

i have reed the chatching fire and i can't emagine zac efron like finnick odair.and if they end up together like a couple (jennifer lawrence and zac efron) i'm so gonna hate him
Yes! I pictured him perfectly! But the sad thing is he didn't even read the second book so if he was cast he have to read the book to relate with Finnick!

sure he has the looks, but i dont think that he can truly take on the role of finnick. coz in all the movies hes been in its usually a simple love story with its ups and downs. finncks role runs deeper than that nd i personally dont think he can do it.

no please no if you ppl r true hunger games fans then you wouldnt torture the movie by having one of my favorite characters be played by him. i mean no offence to him but i really dont think he can play the highly emotional and abused role of finnick.

Ryan Mcintyre Is an unknown that can act! He is beautiful and so sweet. He was a recently cast in a movie called Defenders and Prey . Also one pending with Jim Carey. He is blond 6'2 So athletic with a great smile. His credits are all small because They all just started production but I think he will be big. Look at his pictures on IMDB. OMG!!!!!!! Gabriel Macht would make a great Finnick. As long as he has a good body. But Zac efron is waaaaaaayyy too feminine looking.

He's hot, it could work but not how I pictured Finnick when reading the book.
He is too much of a flat actor to be able to play Finnick and he's too well known for doing kid movies and such. Only recently I believe has he graduated to real movies and even then he isn't that great. He also doesn't have the looks to play that part.
I remember when the hype was all about the casting of Katniss. *So* many people were infuriated when Jennifer Lawrence had been cast (and I'm not gonna lie, I was too). Same goes for Josh Hutcherson as Peeta and Liam Hemsworth as Gale. Now, while I was disappointed with the casting (despite how much I love the actors), I still went to see the movie. The casting directors *did not* make *any* mistakes. The characters were all portrayed flawlessly. Now, if the casting crew didn't fail us last time, they won't fail us this time or the next. Now, I will say that I would *love* to see Zac Efron as Finnick Odair. Efron is an exemplary actor and works extremely hard. He literally studied Matthew Perry for hours for the 2009 film, 17 Again. Zac Efron has done musicals (hate them all you want, but those are damn hard to perform), romances, comedies, and let's not forget his fabulous job in Charlie St. Cloud. Gem, you said Zac Efron wasn't diverse. Take a look at everything he has accomplished and try saying that again. He's not just the little High School Musical boy anymore. He's a grown man and he could pull off Finnick Odair like a banana peel. He's got the profile and he sure as hell has the talent to pull it off. Kate, you said Finnick should be played by an actor who is not well known. I think that's ridiculous. An actor is an actor. It doesn't matter how famous they are. It matters how the character is portrayed. If these so called "dedicated fans" of the Hunger Games are going to make the casting about fame, then maybe Suzanne Collins should reconsider her contract with Lionsgate. Just telling it like it is.
I think Michael Weatherly, who plays Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo on the television series NCIS, would be great as Finnick Odair in Catching Fire.
Finnick seems to be a pretty deep character in the book, he's used by the capitol sexually but hides it with light hearted jokes, is an amazing warrior, helps those in need and truly cares (Saving Peeta and crying for Mags), plus he goes kind of mad when Annie is taken from him yet is her complete emotional support when they're reunited. Could he actually play this role? I like Zac Efron but I don't think he's that diverse :/ Maybe someone like Aaron Johnson?
No way. He is too popular for the role, which should have a semi/not well known hot actor. Hence, Grant Gustin.
