50 Cent Banned from Selling Fiery Wreckage

on Jun. 11, 2008 08:10 AM / 2 Comments

Hip-hop artist 50 Cent has been told by a judge he cannot sell the ashy hole in the ground that used to be his $2.4 million Long Island mansion until police determine what caused it to burn down.

The house, the centerpiece of a ferocious legal battle between Fiddy and his ex Shaniqua Tompkins, burned down last month. Tompkins, who is the mother of his 11-year-old son, Marquise, had refused to move out after their relationship went kaput.

The rapper responded by insisting she move out or begin paying $4,500 in rent. A deposition in the scorned woman's lawyer's office last month, shortly before the fire, resulted in a member of 50's entourage allegedly trashing the office and a very public spat on the streets of Manhattan.

The judge ordered that any insurance money from the blaze be put in a trust account until investigators can determine the cause, though she did order Tompkins to pay her ex the $4,500 for her last month in the home.

Tompkins and Marquise were present at the time of the fire and treated for smoke inhalation. A Long Island police official remarked at the time that the blaze was "suspicious."

Since then, Tompkins has been on a tear, throwing allegations that "he told me he was gonna have someone come kill me." Someone must have knocked some sense into her, because after this latest hearing, she was loath to reup the allegation.

We could go farther with this report, but we don't want Celebuzz to burn down.
