Rachelle Lefevre: “Stunned” and “Saddened” By Replacement News
Twi-hards were absolutely stunned to hear the sudden and shocking news about Rachelle Lefevre‘s departure from the upcoming Twilight sequel Eclipse.
Late last night, Summit Entertainment anounced that Lefevre would be replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard as Vampire Victoria in the third film, which starts filming in August.
Now, Lefevre has given a statement to E! expressing her dissapoinment over what really happened:
“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for Eclipse. I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules.
My commitment to Barney’s Version is only 10 days. Summit picked up my option for Eclipse. Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those 10 days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.
I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of Eclipse only the very best.”

i only saw Twilight for Cam gigandet, and he was killed off. i might be seeing new moon, b/c of the james victoria revenge thing, but now that rachelle is being recasted in the 3rd i wont be seeing it.
that makes me mad and very upset.

Its bullsh*t, Rachelle is perfect for the part!! Im upset, their trying to make all these changes. First with Taylor now this. At least Taylor is still playing Jacob. But I think Rachelle played the part perfectly, she was getting that feline quality Victoria had

NO bring Rachelle back she’s the perfect Victoria. I agree with you guys what is Summit thinking with these changes. First they tried with Taylor and now they got rid of Victoria. I wonder what changes they’re bringing for Breaking Dawn. This is so disappointing.

I heard she was replaced because she didn’t pass the mandatory physical exam for the new movie. Apparently she tested positive for both chlamydia and scurvy.

SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT BLOWS!! Just know Summit that I won’t be attending any of your movies in theatres, I’ll just wait to watch them off Canadian satellite feeds. I’m a patient woman. To change a prominent character after 2 films, who is great, is stupid and careless. It’s obvious from the reading that this was a pissing contest and they decided to flex their muscles. Hey… while you’re at it why don’t you replace Rob, Kristen and Taylor with some less pricey versions, fire the film crew and give some homeless guy a camcorder and film it under a bridge or in a soup kitchen to save money and face and really show us (the fans) who’s the boss!

I hated Twilight and even I think that Rachelle IS Victoria. She was the only character that really intrigued me. She was perfect casting, how can they expect people to just accept a recast this late in the game? Summit seems to be a very unprofessional, amature corperation. I support you Rachelle, I’ve been a fan ever since Big Wolf on Campus.

Seriously I am very angry, cause she was one of my fav. I can’t believe that she’s been recast…if there’s one thing I hate the most about sagas or tv series are recasting, so yeah I’m pissed off. I sincerely think that if it were Robbert or Kristen they would’ve come to some agreement rather than recasting. I’m starting to think that Summit has some sort of my way or the highway motto cause the same wierd sack was given to Catherine Hardwick. Don’t know how this will turn out, but seriously this decision is going to give the saga a hard blow in the nuts.

This is ridiculous!!! Summit has just made a huge mistake. Rachelle was the PERFECT Victoria and I think it’s really moronic to have a new actor playing this character. Rachelle has done an amazing job at portraying Victoria and Summit has now made SO many Twilight fans upset with their decision. 10 days is really nothing considering the fact that although the book is mostly all about Victoria, she’s not in the book a whole hell of a lot!! She’s just at the end, so they could’ve gone ahead and started shooting the scenes that she’s not in and continue with her scenes when she arrives on set. This movie has gotten so far because of the fans and if Summit thinks this won’t have an effect on the movie then they’d better think again because fans are not in the least happy with this!!!!!

Rachelle was absoultely PERFECT for the part! When I re-read the books, she’s who I picture!!! I can’t beilieve they replaced her. If Bryce doesn’t live up to the part there’s going to be even more dissappointed fans then there already are. I don’t think any one can bring the intensity Rachelle brought.
