Renee Zellweger, 39, turned heads with the black Carolina Herrera dress she wore to the Golden Globes this year. And not in a good way.

The Victorian-inspired look with the see-through top and curls piled on top of her head didn't win favor with the press or fans.

But the New in Town star spun into damage control mode and completely stunned the Late Night with David Letterman audience last night with a sexy red, asymmetrical dress.

Zellweger used the hot number to show off her figure. She topped her knockout look off with red pumps and a red beaded ring.

The actress, who is reportedly dating MSNBC legal analyst Dan Abrams, 42, told a cute story about how she got lost during President Barack Obama's inauguration.

She said she took the train and thought she would look for "the nearest Jumbotron" to watch Obama be sworn in.
