The Rise and Fall of Glenn Close

on Jan. 13, 2009 08:00 AM / 1 Comment

Oh, no; Glenn Close has fallen, and she can't get up!

No, actually, the 61-year-old actress was merely getting down on all fours in gratitude for her induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday.

Close received the 2,378th star on Hollywood Boulevard. And she couldn't be happier to acknowledge that people will be walking all over her from here on in.

"Five-inch heels, flip-flops, Birkenstocks, dropped ice cream cones, the odd tobacco squirt, baby carriages, roller blades, skateboards, wheelchairs—bring it all on," Close invited the public during her speech.

Though Close is probably best known for her portrayal of bunny-boiling psycho bitch Alex Forrest in 1987's Fatal Attraction, her career is as vital as ever. Last year she snagged both an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award for her portrayal of Patty Hewes in the FX legal drama Damages.

Not that she's letting all of the prestige go to her head. "I can just see it years from this moment," Close humbly offered during her acceptance. "Someone will wander by my star, dust off my name and think 'Glenn Close? Glenn Close? Oh yeah, I remember. He was good.'"
