UPDATE: According to reports, the Robert Pattinson People cover is a forgery concocted by cruel hoaxsters intent on toying with our hearts. Why must the world be so unfair?

Those eyes. That pout. That stubble. The unkempt flow of his devil-may-care mane. Is it any wonder that People magazine has dubbed New Moon star Robert Pattinson the top hunk in show-biz?

To the surprise of probably no one, R-Pattz got the Sexiest Man Alive nod from People for 2009, landing his dreamy mug on a new special double-issue. Pattinson beat out such studly competitors as Star Trek star Chris Pine and Transformers dude Shia LaBeouf for the honor.

    its no wonder that hes the sexiest man alive i mean...look at him! that cover is so totally true and im a little shocked to find out hes single i thought him and k-stew were planning some serious commitment together since they moved in together
    but anyways just to clarify he is the worlds sexiest man alive and im not just saying that as another crazed fan i mean it, i have like a total crush...maybe stronger than a crush on this guy
