Robert Pattinson to Play Frank Sinatra?
You have to give Robert Pattinson credit; he dares to dream big.
The New Moon heartthrob, currently riding high on the runaway success of the Twilight sequel, has his sights set on a non-vampiric role next: that of Frank Sinatra, for Martin Scorsese‘s much-discussed biopic on the legendary singer.
Says Pattinson,
“I would like to play Frank Sinatra in Martin Scorsese’s film, but so does everyone. I’m a little too young, I can sing but I can’t do his voice. There is a lot of competition. I’m not into competition.”
Sure. Then there’s the whole not-looking-anything-like-Sinatra thing. And the whole being-British thing.
But then, given the fact that everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio to Johnny Depp to Jamie Foxx has been mentioned among the possible candidates for the role, maybe R-Pattz’s thinking isn’t so pie-in-the-sky after all.

I love Rob but no thanks no. btw Sinatra liked his drink too, as they all did in their clan. Some suggested he could play Peter Lawford for the englishness. I think a cameo as Montgomery Clift would be best, for the “From here to eternity” period.

Actually, yeah, he would make a good Monty Clift.

mayby stick to an american playing an true american idol is perhaps a good way to go? id rather see james franco or emile hirsch give it a go. someone with talent beyond being a one role tween icon. Anyone see little ashes? i wouldnt advise you do so if you want to keep thinking he is a decent actor.

I know there is a Hollywood fad going on for Brits to play Americans at the moment, but the producers are just asking for a backlash if they go this route.
honestly i think he is a good choice, he has the amazing blue eyes, im not sure how old they want frank to look like, is it a movie fr his youth till he is older…honestly the other actors are abit old .. except leo. But leo is kinda very short ….
if they want a larger versatile group of ppl going to see this movie, they need to cast him (ROB), that will bring in the younger crowd and his large fan group.
He could pull off Sinatra if he really tried…but then again he doesn’t really have Sinatra’s look…

IMDb lists Rob as 6’1 and Leo as 6′. Not alot of height difference
Rob should play Jeff Buckley.
I think Robert pattinson would be great in the role. He’s already a talented musician and he has a great singing voice. He’s a wonderful actor and he’s gorgeous! I’m not even a Frank Sinatra admirer but I think Rob would be wonderful.
I think Harry Connick Jr is the PERFECT choice. Harry is a croooner just like Frank was.
