First he was Borat, then Brüno now … Freddie?

Infamous funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen has signed on the play the legendary lead singer of Queen in a new film. According to Deadline the movie, which is being produced by Robert DeNiro’s Tribeca Productions, will focus on the band’s most influential years leading up to their performance at 1985’s Live Aid.

No word yet on whether or not Cohen will be singing himself, but don't worry, the rights to all of Queen’s most popular songs have been secured. The film will begin production in 2011.

Think Sacha will rock us as Mr. Mercury? Or will another one bite the dust? Drop us a comment!

Thank you for any other magnificent post. Where else may just anybody get that kind of information in such an ideal way of writing? I have a presentation next week, and I'm at the search for such info.

I don't understand why people are worried about "comedy". As far as I know, SBC is an actor and actors know different roles call for different approach. Being a comic doesn't meanyou are always acting like a lunatic. "Character" doesn't mean "actor"....Jim Carrey anyone? I'm a huge fan of Freddie, but I do respect SBC as an actor and I think he can do it and he will treat Freddie with respect....why shouldn't he?

I really hope Sacha doesn't try to put his 'comedy spin' on the movie and on Freddie's life. I love Queen so I would like Sacha to play Freddie with respect.
