Selena Gomez tells Star Magazine that she has a very good reason for keeping her boyfriend Nick Jonas in a constant state of sexual frustration.

The Wizards of Waverly Place star explains that she wears her purity ring—which is engraved with the phrase True Love Waits—because her own mother, Mandy Teefey, rushed into sexual relations at an early age.

Teefey became pregnant with Selena when she was only 15 years old and broke up with Selena’s father, Ricardo Joel Gomez, five years later. Selena, 16, would rather not make the same mistake.

“I’m going to keep my promise to myself, my family and God,” Gomez tells the magazine.

Hmm; it doesn’t seem like things turned out too bad for Selena and her folks, but whatever; not having sex leaves her and her Nick more time for other pressing issues.
