Selena Gomez Denies Tween War with Miley Cyrus
She’s not a wizard, she just plays one on TV. Selena Gomez is the star of The Wizards of Waverly Place, is heading to the big screen and is about to record her first album. She’s very strategically being catapaulted into tween pop idol stardom by Walt Disney execs.
Much like a certain gummy gal who stirred up the Interwebs with recent randy behavior and sorta topless Vanity Fair pics and who is currently ruling the cusp of teen superstar universe. Does Miley Cyrus have reason to worry?
Not according to Gomez.
“It’s a little overwhelming, but I think really, it’s a compliment,” Gomez tells E! Online. “She’s obviously extremely successful, and I think she’s a wonderful performer…So being compared to her, I was very, very flattered.”
Gomez says that there won’t be any backstabbing, gossiping or boyfriend stealing.
“We’re literally like, It’s fine. It’s all good,” Gomez says. “She’s Miley, and I’m Selena.”
Hannah Montana 2.0 (let’s be real) does say she has no interest in being a solo artist like Cyrus. “I want to be in a band with four other guys,” she says. Yeah, as long as they aren’t included in the band name, and don’t make it onto the album cover.
Enjoy it while you can, Selena. Your first name isn’t exactly a good-luck charm in this biz, and there’s always going to be someone younger rocketing up the Disney turnpike behind you.

I think they are trying to replace Vanessa Hudgens, not Miley. They are like clones of each other, and this girl started getting big at Disney not too long after her scandalous pics (which blow Miley’s PG-13 rated ones way out of the water!).
