Shanna Moakler Stands Up for Gay Marriage
Heads up, Carrie Prejean; Shanna Moakler is calling you out!
Little more than a week after the Miss California Prejean shocked the world by blasting the concept of gay marriage during this year’s Miss USA contest, Travis Barker‘s ex and former Miss USA Moakler has released an ad championing gay rights.
What’s more, her beauty-queen compatriots, former Miss California contestants Raquel Beezley and Tamiko Nash, have joined her in her quest.
The ad blasts Proposition 8—which effectively banned gay marriage in California when it passed last November—and features the trio standing in front of an American flag, with “No H8″ scrawled across their cheeks and duct tape covering across their mouths.
But duct tape or not, Moakler isn’t staying silent on the topic of gay rights.
“I believe Prop 8 lead a campaign of confusion and never made clear what was being asked of the people,” she tells Usmagazine.com. “I find most people have a problem with the word ‘marriage.’ What I hope for is helping others understand ‘civil union’ and then one day helping people learn ‘marriage’ is something not God, not the state or country can solidify, but between two people who love each other.”

but since the beginning of time marriage has been 1 man and 1 woman. learn your history…..
hate to break it to you ummm but you need to learn your history… Same sex marriage wasn’t actually illegal until 312 which is not in any way the beginning of time and then it was only because some Christians decided it should be. I believe we left Europe to free ourselves from religious persecution… yet here we are again.

Marriage = Culturally defined. This means, it varies depending on what a person socially learns.
In your case, clearly, you were taught that God instituted marriage to be between a man and a woman. Good for you.
Others elsewhere in the world were taught that God instituted marriage to be between a man and a woman, and another woman. Good for them.
Duke it out amongst yourselves.
Historically, God has had little to do with marriage, and only became a large part of Christian marriage with reformations in the Catholic Church between the 10th and 12th centuries. Before that, it was strictly a political/economic agreement.
So while you trumpet what you believe, remember there are others who disagree and facts that speak against you.
More importantly, I don’t think Jesus would be as intolerant as you. He had two dads. He never got married and hung out with a prostitute often.
p.s. Sodom and Gomorrah is a fabrication of the Catholic clergy in the 12th century. Stop worrying that if you don’t act like a jerk God will smite us for it. I think he’s got other reasons to be upset with us.

Hate to break it to you “ummm”, but at the beginning of time, neither man nor woman existed for there to be marriage.
Marriage, by law, is a binding legal arrangment that recognizes two people as becoming a family unit. I’ve been with my partner for 6 years and we will probably still be together 30 years from now. Yet under the Prop 8 agenda, I will still be considered a single man with no family. Views on what “God” does or does not consider to be marriage should be kept within the church. In the USA we are free to seek happiness without oppression from any religion. Most churches are made for judging people, and religion is optional…. upholding the constitution is not.
I wish more people were like Shanna. You don’t have to be gay to know what discrimination is.
As for Ms. Prejean, I am so sick of the excuse “That’s how I was raised.” I have family members who were raised to know they would be disowned shoud they marry outside their race. Do what’s right, not just what you’re told.
First, the title of the article is a lie…as Shanna Moakler herself claims it had nothing to do with Carrie’s marriage stance. Second, Shanna Moakler is a hypocrite…she thinks she’s a ROLE MODEL??? She’s famous for sleeping with numerous celebrities, being a flaky wife/mom on a failed reality show, and for posing nude in playboy! Is she serious????
