Shannen Doherty's a Go for New '90210'

Shannen "Eyes Adrift" Doherty, the meanest broad to ever stalk the Peach Pit, is returning to her stomping grounds in the CW's Beverly Hills: 90210 spin-off in September.

Doherty had been contemplating taking a role in the new 90210, but first wanted a look at the script and a bigger paycheck. Sounds like the producers threw in an extra bag of kibble per episode.

Doherty will be joined by fellow 90210 alum Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling when the story picks up this fall. Doherty's character, Brenda Walsh, will be a guest director of West Beverly High's musical production. Presumably, the show will have a rip-roaring rendition of Elton John's "The Bitch Is Back" as its centerpiece.

Until filming concludes, Shannen needs to find a friend to take over her route of roughing up neighborhood school kids for their lunch money. Maybe this guy has some time on his hands.

We sent Intern George out for bellinis and wheels of cheese immediately. Part of what is so delectable about the return of half the original cast is that you know the New Generation is kind of worried that they're five minutes away from being downgraded to tertiary characters who get minimal screen time while Kelly and Brenda wrestle in the West Beverly High swimming pool and argue some more about Dylan. Which could actually probably happen. Like, who has time to worry about the random problems of some girl who used to be on Degrassi when we've got the possible demise of Donna's marriage to David to consider AND then an hour later (or whatever), we need to concentrate on Chuck and Blair? But I have to say, I want to take one of the Extra Crispy Recipe cast members and crush her to my bosom with joy, because I can already tell she is going to be amusing.”

Shannon Doherty, the zombie that never dies is rising again. That's scarier than any zombie movie will ever get. Hopefully there will be no fist fights this time.
